They won’t do it because thorium is a fertile isotope but needs a breeder cycle to turn it into a fissile form (233U), then you’re into uranium again. They hate that, for some stupid reason. But we could have tens of thousands of year’s worth of emissions-free energy with a U-Pu-Th breeder cycle. Make some of those actinide burners and you get rid of the waste as well.

Our outstanding pipelines system is the primary factor in the low cost of fuel in the US. Which of course is why they’re attacking them.
