On September 16, 2017, at around 14:00 a pair of Ka-52 attack helicopters with the crews in command of Lieutenant-Colonel A.V. Smakhtin and the Senior Lieutenant A.S. Volchkov took off from Pushkin airfield in Leningrad Oblast in the vicinity of Luzhsky training range to perform training and demonstration shooting. At 14:47, at an altitude of about 50 meters, at a speed of 200 km/h, the pilots received permission from the Zapad-2107 exercises command to enter the attack heading and prepare for shooting. At that moment, there was a spontaneous launch of three unguided S-8 aircraft rockets from the wingman machine under command of Senior Lieutenant Volchkov. The fired missiles exploded in close proximity to the audience consisting of military attaches, military industry experts and journalists. Three people were injured by the explosion and fragments. Also two military trucks were damaged.

So says the official rag of the Ukrainian Nazi party.

How could they possibly know the names of the personnel involved? Or, many of the other details?

It might be what happened, but not because this rag said so.

The planning for the attack heading over the heads of the observers was negligent.

The pilot cued on the wrong “target.”

About ten years ago, two Russian jets were practicing dog fighting. The one lined up a shot on the other and accidentally fired five rounds into the plane, shooting it down. My observation is that the US military has a higher degree of safety than other militaries. It’s a cultural issue.

Oh my gosh, do we have someone in this forum, calling the Nazi card like the Democrats do..... except this is Russian propaganda.

Hey, nobody take my word for it, look it up, Russia might flip into a Muslim nation and that is predicted to happen in not that distant in the future, check about the military too.

All ethnicities in the USSR fought for the Red Army. Let’s not forget, that the USSR also collaborated with the Nazis.

Cliff Kincaid, respected columnist does bring up probable or possible Russian and Chinese collaboration with North Korea.

I read all and check all sources.

It’s a military exercise that is covered by the press, so probably not too unusual.

My theory is that they intended to launch some flares, but hit the wrong button and shot missles instead.

took off from Pushkin airfield in Leningrad Oblast

Still using Soviet-era nomenclature? Shouldn't that be St. Petersburg?

Leningrad Oblast (Russian: Ленингра́дская о́бласть, tr. Leningradskaya oblast’; IPA: [lʲɪnʲɪnˈgratskəjə ˈobləsʲtʲ]) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). It was established on August 1, 1927, although it was not until 1946 that the oblast's borders had been mostly settled in their present position. The oblast was named after the city of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). Unlike the city, the oblast retains the name of Leningrad. The oblast overlaps the historic region of Ingria and is bordered by Finland in the northwest and Estonia in the west, as well as five federal subjects of Russia: the Republic of Karelia in the northeast, Vologda Oblast in the east, Novgorod Oblast in the south, Pskov Oblast in the southwest, and the federal city of Saint Petersburg in the west. The first governor of Leningrad Oblast was Vadim Gustov (in 1996–1998). The current governor, since 2012, is Alexander Drozdenko. The oblast has an area of 84,500 square kilometers (32,600 sq mi) and a population of 1,716,868 (2010 Census);[10] up from 1,669,205 recorded in the 2002 Census.[15] The most populous town of the oblast is Gatchina, with 88,659 inhabitants (as of the 2002 Census).[15] Leningrad Oblast is highly industrialized.
