Slavery is not a thing of the past. A report released Tuesday by the U.N.-affiliated International Labor Office (ILO) and the Walk Free Foundation estimates that there were 40.3 million people in some form of modern slavery around the world on any given day last year.

But by its very nature, the accuracy of that figure is hard to gauge. Slavery tends to be a hidden, illegal practice — one in which the victim's ability to speak out is limited. The authors of the Global Estimates of Modern Slavery study admit there are gaps in the available information: Although extensive United Nations data has been used in the study, some countries and sub-national regions are missing.

“It's difficult or even impossible to do research in areas of high conflict,” said Fiona David, Walk Free Foundation's executive director of global research, pointing to areas such as Syria or northern Nigeria that had to be excluded from the study. Because of this, David said, the estimate of 40.3 million is probably conservative.

So they are trying so desperately to get the United States as “US slavery to blame for all that BLM rants about” ...

If even 2 million are in “the America’s” then ALL are in Mexico, Caribbean and Central America, and Equatorial south America.

Are they trying to assume some number of “sex slaves” and Muslim slaves in Europe, and then merging “Europe” and “Central Asia” together to pull up the “guilty western nations” in their propaganda?

Many of those modern slaves have to mail substantial amounts of cash to the IRS by the 15th of April every year. Some have to do that four times per year.

Depends on how you define slaves. Much of the left thinks millions of slaves still live in the US and are forced to vote D to survive.

And even that survival is a bare minimum to keep them alive for the next election. No effort to help them get out of their miserable life (i.e. education). And their masters want plenty of illegal workers with an even worse life keeping them from getting out of their situation by working. And while the masters don’t beat them directly, they help them beat and kill each other (i.e. Chicago) by restricting the ability of police, courts and prisons to remove the enforcers from their neighborhoods.

I’d say it’s nothing like US blacks in the early 1800’s, or the slaves today in this article. But I’ll agree with the left that a large part of the US is being kept in poverty and used/abused by their masters in order for Ds to win elections. It’s as close as the Ds can come to slavery given today’s laws.
