Emails: Hillary Clinton invited Putin to Clinton Foundation gala

Was this the “collusion” you were looking for?

Just two months into her term as secretary of state, Hillary Clinton’s foundation invited Russian leader Vladimir Putin, along with several other prominent heads of state, to the Clinton Global Initiative’s 2009 annual gathering, emails obtained by the watchdog group Judicial Watch reveal.

The March 13, 2009, email from the Clinton Foundation showed that Putin and about 200 other leaders (including others just as controversial) were invited to attend a gathering that occurred at about the same time that the newly appointed secretary of state was attempting a “reset” with Moscow.

The email, which was sent from Clinton Foundation director of foreign policy Amitabh Desai to Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Shapiro and then forwarded to top Clinton aide Jake Sullivan, also highlights the potential massive conflict of interest between a non-profit foundation and the federal government.

This may come as a shock to casual observers of global politics, as Clinton represented herself as a fierce anti-Putin hawk on the 2016 election campaign trail. Clinton routinely reprimanded now-President Donald Trump for not condemning Putin. She called Trump’s stance on Russia “unseemly” and “beyond one’s imagination.”

Even after losing the election, Clinton has continued on the warpath against President Trump’s stance on Russia.

“He doesn’t just like Putin, he wants to be like Putin,” Clinton said of Trump on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow show Thursday night.

But as secretary of state, Clinton took pains to engage with the Kremlin. Just one week prior to sending out the invites, Hillary flew to Geneva and presented the Russian foreign minister with an actual “reset button” to symbolize a new beginning in U.S.-Russia relations.

“She’s also been accused of profiting off of the relationship with Russia.

“One year after inviting Putin to the Clinton Foundation event, she approved the sale of 20 percent of America’s uranium capacity to Russia.

Shortly thereafter, donors connected to the company that was sold to Russia contributed $145 million in donations to the Clinton Foundation.”

The Clinton Foundation wasn’t “non profit”. The Clintons and their cronies profited immensely.

“Clintons’ foundation has raised nearly $2 billion — and some key questions”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/clintons-raised-nearly-2-billion-for-foundation-since-2001/2015/02/18/b8425d88-a7cd-11e4-a7c2-03d37af98440_story.html?utm_term=.2d9f6f7f8c85

Saudi Arabia $14.5 million
Kuwait $5 and $10 million
Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar —
$1 and $5 million

“A third of foundation donors who have given more than $1 million are foreign governments or other entities … and foreign donors make up more than half of those who have given more than $5 million.””

Definitely. Definitely collusion, Raymond.
It doesn't take and autistic genius to see it.

Let’s face it, the whole Russia thing is an attempt to cover up a failed rigging of the election by Hillary Clinton and Debby Wasserman Schultz, with lots of neocon supporters.

Not to mention the deal she arranged to have a Russian pharmaceutical company sold to an American company.

Trump is a racist, sexist, homophobe but that didn’t stop Hillary from attending his wedding. I wonder what she got for the happy couple?

On a serious note, Hillary spent the first years of her term as Sec of State trying to warm relations with Russia. We had the “reset”, and then the reset of the reset. We negotiated with them on a number of areas and reached some accords.

Then quite suddenly and quickly, she turned into a Russia hawk even to the point of advocating a no-fly zone over Syria which would have threatened direct armed conflict with Russia.

Why the sudden turn? I think it is because Hillary had been completely blindsided by Russian adventurism time and again. She was either completely incompetent or blithely preoccupied with raising money and plotting her 2016 campaign that she was caught unawares as Russia moved in Ukraine, and later as Syria invited them in to defend the regime. Syria was a particularly big blunder because the only reason they sought Russian protection was because Obama kept threatening regime change (but never followed through in this case, even back-tracking his red lines). It could have been avoided if diplomatic channels had been kept informed. Thus, Obama and Clinton erased 40 years of keeping Russia out of the Middle East (and mostly out of warm water ports) established by Carter at Camp David in one fell swoop.

None of this got any real play in the election. IMO it was a major blunder - as important as her failure in Benghazi was for Americans to note, it was emblematic of her general incompetence or inattention across the globe. As far as US strategic interests go, imo Syria was a bigger blunder.
