Here’s a link to the judge’s findings. Footnote 9 states that Smith did have an outstanding parole violation warrant and a felony record. The autopsy report does lend credence to the cop’s account of the incident. The State did ask the Court to consider homicide if it did not find for first degree murder.

Keep in mind that the only reason she is the mayor is because the three other primary candidates split the black vote.
“As soon as the first injury occurs, no more Mr. Nice cop.”
Empty the magazine.
Reload.
Repeat until effective.
Good points. I’m very tied up with a family matter, so I have not followed this case closely, and can’t now — maybe a FReeper can find “more” on the deceased’s background / record. (That said, I would surely hope the judge has firm proof: It’s hard to believe he would not.)
I’m not going to be able to comment much on FR for a few days - you all carry on (as if I need to say that!)
Blacks are profiling police officers based on the actions (right or wrong) of a few.
Should we profile blacks based on the actions of many? Should blacks be profiled as murderers, rapists, looters, violent, useless and irresponsible parents, etc.?
They profile but then tell us profiling is wrong?
Lefties did this to conservatives. During the BO Regime. No one in power cared (thinking of female reporter who used to do Fox, maybe a WSJ reporter))
Yeah. No more MR. Nice cop.
It’s so racist that 98% make the other 2% look bad...

I’ve always enjoyed that one. A lot of truth to it.
I could have thrown in education and so many other things where they’re given the opportunity but, as a whole, they would rather just blame others for their failures.
My wife has been waiting 6 months to see U2 perform tonight in downtown St. Louis. This morning she gets a text that the show has been cancelled. I guess they are expecting more riots tonight.
In the name of love, what more in the name of love?
So, I asked myself, “What would Rahm do?”
I can imagine him letting part of the city get trashed. But, allowing the “demonstrators” to get within hailing distance of his home? No f’n way!
A society without rules (call it a social contract if you will) is not a working society. Nor, is that ever to become one.
Having rules and following same is what makes a rabble into a 'culture'.
We here is the US currently have lots of rules, laws and yet we are seeing things breaking down almost completely in areas (inner city)
I would add that any culture (society) that a person resides in that openly accepts crime, rampart illegitimacy and drug dealing, for example, as a normal way of living, then that culture is past broken or dysfunctional.
That society is, in fact, engaged in constant, low order warfare against the larger, rule based participative society from which it is subtended. In this context, riots are just a spike in the ongoing and constant warfare with the larger whole.
So - to my earlier point - the 'breakdown' is less a rejection of the rules/laws and more like open warfare against the greater whole of the working parts of our Society.....
How long would the 'inner-city' and their related absolute dependency on others outside of the area, last without massive tax spending for water, sewer, electric and food/water or housing?
I dare say the shelf life of those areas would be measured in hours. Witness: New Orleans before the hurricane...
I am not a heartless bastard, BTW, just an observer of the obvious.
The rest of America is learning that the unassimilated lefty has no interest in the rule of law or legal procedures (including trials); the cop was smart to opt for a bench trial, where one person would be responsible for the decision...
I suppose the mayor should have had the officer shot on the courthouse steps at the close of the trial.
Simpler is “looters will be shot” with the National Guard called out and placed as fast as it can be done. If that policy is announced in anticipation of riots, it only has to be carried out twice in different locations. Once will be ignored. Twice will end the riots until/unless they become real armed Revolution. That policy carried out as announced will ultimately preserve a many lives and a whole lot of property that would otherwise be lost to the violence.
Eventually it will come to that. They will pick a fight with the wrong guy and some of them will get ventilated.
They cancelled the symphony too
We need to stop the racial inflammation.....Can’t be done. This is a Communist/ globalist tactic to bring down this country.
Antifa and BLM, like the Weathermen and Black Panthers of the 60’s, despise authority whether from the right or left.
