All of the things they cite had an effect — a very small one. They will try to avoid the real reason.n
“too many teams, not enough talent”
This has happened across all sports, though I think the NFL has talent. The bigger problem with the NFL are the ridiculous rule changes that have given a ref the ability to call a penalty on almost any play. You couple the refs with the shift to make each game a TV extravaganza, you have what appears to be nonsense on the field.
I quit watching the NFL a while ago for those reasons. The game is a joke anymore. I’m not saying I could go out there on the field and survive (I’d be killed by your average 8th grade JV team :-) ) ... I simply find the game to be a total bore anymore and a bit “manufactured” to be worth my while.
I was a Niners fan since the Joe Montana days, but after their Super Bowl appearance four years years ago they got rid of the coach whut brung ‘em there, and virtually all of the players, and moved to Santa Clara, I don’t know the team any more
Now they’re just part of the NFL glut, the football glut, the sports glut. College games might be holding their own in the ratings here in the first month of the season but we’ll see what kind of ratings the surfeit of Bowls achieve in the holidays this year.
not sure i watch use and ucla
agreed
Lastly, I watch football, because it takes me away from the endless drum beat of politics. The last thing I want to see in ANY way is something political. ESPN, The NFLPA, The NFL, etc. always manage to sneak in a little message that I dont want to hear: Kneeling during the National Anthem, the TRULY IDIOTIC pink ribbon Octobers, or worst of all, athletes telling me what their political opinion is.
Sooner or later, theyll lose me too.
last year down 8%
Last week all games down 13% over last season
zactly
point to you

done thanx
When I was kid late 40s and 50s, I went to boarding school. We had to leave at half time of the game every sunday. We were kin the browns TV area and got one game. i loved those guys, Otto Graham, Jim brown, Lou Grosa. I kept watching as many games a Is could. i have direct with east coast and west coast and SAD feeds. I had to be more selective and started scanning through the recorded games. But yeah I miss it somewhat, but I’m 70 and if they want to insult war dead in my family, i can do without it.
Players can make statements away from the field and do community work. They don’’t have to insult my basic values, especially while they have their hands in my pocket..
lol clearly
Chargers will die in LA My son follows soccer and says TJ has a great soccer team and organization. He thinks they will make inroads into San Diego with kids and fans. Play some home games there. they won the mexico championship recently. My son also follows european soccer. He’s getting away from the NFL
I thought wed couldn’t link to The Times.
I wonder if they have ratings for all media.
It was my understanding we were prohibited from linking to the Times. I may be wrong, if so, then go for it.
He's more concerned with screwing the fans of teams out of a home game, in favor of playing in Mexico and London. Talk about a stupid marketing plan.
Thanks
