I watched a few minutes of Texans v. Bengals. Enough to notice the whole upper ring of the Cin. stadium was a ghost town.

There have and will always be news events during the football season. The NFL and media just can’t/won’t admit the the product sucks on the field. Add the off-field crap and who needs it...

That the election was a reason last year has been completely debunked. The ratings were still down after the election was over.

You can let the NFL Players Association know how you feel.

Wonder what ratings are in St Louis and San Diego since that both lost teams

Somehow, I can’t imagine the first million questions from The Lord on arrival in Heaven would include:

“Why didn’t you watch MORE NFL football?”

The NFL is HATED in San Diego. Trust me, there are plenty of other things to do on Sunday in San Diego than watch those thugs in the National Felons League.

I hope this is a habit that doesn’t take off. Denying us the ability to read from the source is not how the forum works.

I think traditional viewing of the NFL on TV is down. But new analysis shows that NFL viewing is moving to portable devices like cellphones and tablet computers, especially now with the NBC Sports app for Sunday night games and the ESPN app for Monday night games, not to mention seeing games on Sundays if you are a Verizon customer (Verizon has a deal to stream NFL games over their cellphone network).

Mind you, if they have another mediocre Thursday night game, that will really hammer NFL overall ratings.

My second year too. It’s really hard, I love the game and for 30 years or more Sundays during fall/early winter were dedicated to games, stats, players, meals, you name it! Last year was killing me not to watch but I refuse to give them ratings until the stand up for our country and our anthem! Not just one team, all! It’s easier this year so far, looks like they don’t want me back so at this point I’d have to say I’m gone for good!

I watched a few minutes of Texans v. Bengals. Enough to notice the whole upper ring of the Cin. stadium was a ghost town

I turned this 'game' on midway through the first quarter; within 3 minutes there had been 5 penalty flags thrown. Click, TV goes off. If the players can't play the game within the rules, doesn't it make sense to change the rules? Just sayin'

And another thing...the most boring play in football is the touchback. So what does the league do? Make it so there are MORE touchbacks by putting it on the 25 instead of the 20-yard line as before, incentivizing the returner to down it in the shallow end zone rather than risk a return. It's crazy.

I have a solution: make it legal to KICK A FIELD GOAL on the kickoff. Think how much excitement this would bring back to the game: in a close contest, if the kicking off team is losing by 3 points or less, they would have an incentive to try a field goal, which would, due to the accuracy which would be required on the attempt, create a shorter kick, and be more apt to be returned, thus eliminating so many boring touchbacks. What do you think?

And please, football purists, don't tell me about how changing the rules messes with the integrity of the game; that ship has sailed, around the world, several times!
