You get what you pay for. I remember an incident one night at a Motel 6 in Milwaukee. Racial overtones including taunting. At 6am the manager banged on the door and told them to get the hell out. State cop was behind him. Given the choice I’d stay somewhere else but I’m into saving a buck when traveling alone.

‘Motel 6 calls ICE on illegals’

They say that like it’s a bad thing.

LOL!

I seem to recall something about Motel 6 sending local cops a nightly list of guests' names (at least in certain locations). I thought that was a clever way to deal with bail-jumpers and such.

Me, too. I stayed at some when travelling with my late father, who didn’t want to waste any money on a bed out of the rain. He always had a gun, regardless of the law.

Motel 6, a place that I frequent by the way (along with McDonald’s) recently started PHOTOGRAPHING IDs at check-in, and it’s all computerized now. So where that information goes is anyone’s guess. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit of DHS gets that information immediately, along with local law enforcement, and possibly every other police agency.

In this case, it’s hard to tell how they got tipped off. I’m interested where this newspaper got their information and whether it was fed to them selectively...as in more Motel 6’s being involved (i.e., the entire chain).

As it is, as someone who’s traveled quite a internationally, every country that I’ve been to also copies passports...so this is not something unique to the world.

As to Motel 6, if word hits the street that people here illegally or legal people with outstanding warrants aren’t welcome - that only makes Motel 6 a better place to stay.

He added, “I’m assuming it was a Motel 6 person — I don’t know who else would have told them — thinking, ‘Hey, this guy doesn’t speak English, he has a Mexican ID card, I’m going to call ICE.’”

Sounds good to me.

You know what I never saw once in 25 years in California? A Latino / Hispanic in the United States with a Spanish-English dictionary.

The local Motel 6 here is used by the cops to snare prostitute customers off web sites. It happens regularly and the Johns can’t seem to understand they are walking into a trap. Thinking with the wrong head I guess.

Usually they’re clean, comfortable and affordable like ads say.One in Braintree MA south of Boston though had to close for 7 weeks, maybe permanently due to issues of clientele.. Drug dealers, prostitution, a cop was shot etc. Active facebook group Shut Down Motel 6 Braintree MA

The second best part about this is that there’s nothing illegal about an individual tipping off ICE, whether he’s just guessing or not, “Sanctuary City” status be damned, and that is driving the lawyer absolutely insane.

Some Motel 6s are used for section 8 like housing.

Best not to stay in any that are in a large city.
