These days, most super-rich are Dems and Dem donors.

Anyone can write a check to “United States Treasury”, and mail it to:

Department of the Treasury
1500 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20220

So ... why don’t these “rich liberals” not do that? Can’t find their checkbook? Can’t find a pen? Maybe they’re liars and hypocrites?

Reagan worked this way. He went in with 70% nonnegotiable and 30% negotiable. He almost always got his 70%. Later, after the 70% worked so well, he’d get his 30%. Figure Trump will do the same.

It is McConnell and Ryan’s fault. They have accomplished zip, zilch, nada; do not speak for most Republicans who vote; have made more comprises with the Dims than Trump is making (where are the spending cuts to Lib favored executive branch non-essential nonsense??); where is Obamacare repeal; where is funding and building the wall; why have hey allowed the Dims to hang up all Trumps nominations; where is the special prosecutors on Hillary, Lynch, Comey, IRS, ect., ect.???

If McConnell and Ryan are unhappy with Trump talking deals with the Dims, they need to either get off their butts or resign their leadership positions AND stay out of the House and Senate caucuses choosing new leaders. Either they change, radically, or its time that they be changed.

As long as “rich” means people making hundreds of thousands and up a year. Temporarily.

"He has always stated that the “rich” such as himself might pay more taxes during the campaign."

I agree that Trump confessed a number of times during the campaign to being a progressive when it comes to fed entitlements and other things.

But I kinda thought his point about the rich and taxes during the campaign is that he'd work to cut out the unfair loopholes so that the rich actually pay a determined rate - ideally the same rate as all, though he never said that.

Either way, there is absolutely no question that the proposal in the article is a progressive plan. Trump is a lot of good things, but he is not a principle-driven conservative, not a Freedom-driven patriot and not a hands-off libertarian. His is a populist who happens to be right on the immigration and trade issues - which was enough to win.

We Freedom-lovers are doomed to be disappointed many times over the next few years. But are none too bright if we are surprised.

>>Current threshold being discussed is $250k.<<

That is NOT rich. In some paces like California it is lower middle class.

They should be starting at about $10 million if they have to go there at all.

Trump is not a conservative but I backed him because he promised border security, a crackdown on illegals, and a conservative Supreme Court. He also promised to get rid of Obamacare and real tax reform. I guess I’m going to have to settle for one out of five (thank you for Gorsich).

Sorry folks, like it or not this is reality... wealth is not flowing through the economy as it should... if something isn’t done soon the entire nation will be at risk. For at least 2 generations now this reality has continued... if it keeps up we have only 1 or 2 generations left before you are at violent revolution.

Don’t forget, many, if not most, of the truly rich are FLAMING LEFTISTS. Trump won due to votes of people who can’t afford lobster dinners every night.

If the Dems and Trump can get a plan together to hit these people, the Dems will have a LOT MORE explaining to do at election time than the Republicans.

“Current threshold being discussed is $250k.”

That number DESTROYS people living in Silicone Valley, San Francisco, and the Northeast...but barely affects people living in West Virginia, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

...come to think of it, which areas supported Trump, and which supported Hillary.

And the Dems will define "rich" as "having a full-time job."

Now that's funny!! Sad and true - but funny!!

Not so....Schumer does not even consider $250,000 rich.

He like the Buffet rule....starting at one million...
