Birth Control and Homosexuality: Unintended Consequences
American Thinker.com ^ | September 11, 2017 | Mike Konrad

In the 1980s, I had a boss who had gotten a masters degree in psychology from New York University. He was a brilliant man; could have been a doctor. He told me a story that explains much of what we see in society today.

It seems that while doing his graduate work in the early 1960s, he had to do research on lab rats, which were given the synthetic hormones used in the then new birth control pills. The results, he told me, showed that the grandchildren of these lab rats would have high rates of homosexual behaviors. From what he told me, the findings were suppressed. Apparently, the powers that be wanted “the pill” to pass muster. What happened to the second generation of rats that followed was of no consequence to them.

Then my boss told me: The first generation of kids born to mothers using the pill have already arrived. But we should expect in another generation a noticeable increase in homosexual behavior, as they would be the second generation. As that was then still in the future, I was shocked.

This was told me in the mid '80s. By his reckoning, we should have seen a societal explosion of homosexuality starting around 2000, and subsequently. And, of course, we have seen such an explosion. His prediction came true.

Now, to many classic conservatives – whether religious or merely social – homosexuality is a choice, something which can be learned and/or unlearned. The problem is: There is a degree of evidence that it may be contrariwise in some individuals.

I invite one to look at this short CBS 60 Minutes documentary about what happens to lab rats treated with sex hormones early on their development.

homosexuality is a choice,

It is a behavior, behaviors have many causes but can be modified, (both ways)

Yeah, sure, keep thinking that. How about the ancient Greeks? Their mothers didn’t have the pill.

It still remains a sin, and one that is doubly dangerous because people wrap their whole sense of self around it in ways that they do not around other sins.

This in addition to the way that sexual sins of any sort can readily and powerfully affect us on the physical level, digging deep into brain chemistry as well as affecting us spiritually.

There is no insanity plea for rejecting the Son and the only Gospel offered.

I would also question that, whatever reaserchers may have imagined, that this was in any way disagreeable to the population control crowd. It may have been a happy coincidence for them but even if they had been aware of it I would imagine that they would redouble their efforts to get these drugs approved just for these reasons.

It rained once, and there was a homosexual.

Maybe rain causes homosexuality.

homosexuality is a choice,

His article says just the opposite, that it is a genetic thing.

So is the author trying to argue there were no homosexuals before 1960?

I am pretty sure there were.

Testosterone levels have dropped 30% in the last 30 years. A 35 year old man today has the testosterone level that a 65 year man had a generation ago. If the decline continues at it's current rate of approximately 1% per year we will soon have no men.

The destruction of the nuclear family is a strong influence as well, when young people don’t have positive relationships with a mother and father.

Perhaps all these are factors: genetic predispositions, exposures to hormones in the womb, sexual molestation. It’s not necessarily all-or-nothing.

FWIW.

If?

And as the Libtards say.

Homosexuality is “Born trait”.

Therefore, Conversion Therapy is wrong.

And

Gender is Fluid. Meaning your gender AND sexual identity can change.

It would be more likely to be a choice influenced from events while the mind is relatively undeveloped and easily confused, from childhood when the adult mind has difficulty remembering events but little difficulty being plagued by artifacts of emotions. Rather their feelings, outgrowths from different irrational processes, are taken as proof of facts when they are not even rooted in rational thinking.

They feel they are thus and so they act it out.

Because of the way sex affects brain chemistry their various deeds reinforce their imagined state. With nary a critical thought they are sold into slavery of their passions.

Yes, the same can and does happen to those who abuse heterosexual sexually ... all too frequently ... scripture does not say we should only flee a certain subclass of sexual sin but to flee them inclusive of all their range ... so please don’t think I’m signaling out homosexuals as libertines and ignoring libertine heterosexuals.

It should be pretty clear at this point that a completely heterosexual guy doesn’t just wake up from a night of booze and babes and decides he wants to bang some trucker dudes. Nobody really believes that except the conservatives in liberals heads I hope. Having said that, its irrelevant for the most of the specific political issues we’re facing today.

But bigger picture, there are a bunch of chemicals out there that can screw with people in a number of ways and perhaps has a hand at least partially for the ‘interesting times’ we’re facing right now. we should take notice rather than plug our ears because we don’t think it fits with one or two preconceived notions of how things should be.

I repeat it is a behavior, start with that do not begin the discussion with choice. There are many causes of behavior, but behavior can be modified.

Murder is a behavior
theft is a behavior
drugs is a behavior
drinking is a behavior
lying in s behavior
homer sexuals is a behavior

Saturating the population with artificial hormones could have physiological results.

Well duh.

Manufacture an increase in environmental stress on a population while you’re at it.... and combine the above with increased reproductive dysfunction as an evolved response to limit population expansion.

I think that response to stress is part of the natural limit imposed on societies that are given over to the abomination of nature - described in Romans chapter 1.

RTFM and maintain order... or suffer the cultural due penalty.

Homosexuals still comprise a tiny percentage of the population.

Yeah I know but it’s still a weak argument.

How about the anything goes cabaret society in post WWI Berlin? I see no chemical damage there!

I need more evidence.
