They say Atlanta will look like General Sherman’s march to the sea.

It’s clear and sunny here in Mobile though some clouds are starting to float in. Heard on the radio when I got up that later today we can expect rain and 35 MPH gusts. Hope it’s out of here quickly as I’ve got a 730 flight in the morning heading to DC.

Well that “lady” veered off into a strange direction. Not even going up the coast, but instead heading for my friends in TN and AL. Pooh on her.

I’m in Columbus, GA. EASY drive into work today. People aren’t taking chances and are staying home. I think I am the only one in my neighborhood who put masking tape on the windows.

Forecast is 40-50 mph winds and rain. Not the big deal the folks on the coast get.

West Central GA. Schools closed and military base closed. Just rain and light gusts so far. Power is on. We’ll see.

The white on the arrow that intersects Tennessee and Mississippi is home. The remnants of Rita, Katrina, Harvey and now Irma will go directly over us. Katrina went over us almost at a Cat I and Hurricane Elvis did a lot of damage.

Windy and rainy in downtown Atlanta. The city has mostly shut down. MARTA has completely suspended operation for today, both trains and buses. First time that’s happened.

All GA government will be closed today and tomorrow.

In Oklahoma you get 40-50 mph winds by just planning a Church picnic or taking an afternoon off to play golf.

We had similar when I lived in Davis Junction, IL, except we had more wind breaks than Oklahoma. The stuff down here isn't built for it. Here in southern Georgia thay also panic if there is the possibility of slushie sleet. I have driven in blizzards in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Iowa. Rather than laugh it off, I play along, and get to stay home from work and still get paid. Besides, I wouldn't trust the other drivers on the road.

Senator Paul: Why Not Fund Disaster Relief With Foreign Aid Money?

Written by Steve Byas

“My amendment, the ‘America First’ amendment, would take the money from money that we were going to send to foreign countries,” in order to pay for disaster relief in the United States, explained Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.). “We send billions and billions of dollars to countries who hate us. We send billions and billions of dollars to countries who burn our flag. I think it’s a very simple choice that when we’re looking at those in need in our country, we quit sending money to other countries.”

Paul’s amendment was a reaction to the proposals for the U.S. government to go even deeper into debt to aid in the disaster of Hurricane Harvey. Instead of taking on even more debt, Paul contends, why not just cut the amount of the American taxpayers’ dollars that go to foreign governments, which include dictatorships, many of whom hate the United States.

I’m not even showered or ready for the day yet - got held up here at FR. Guess I better get in gear as I have no idea what’s in store. Looks like things have changed some since I went to bed last night.

The power must have been out here in Metro Atlanta some time in the night but the only way I knew was when the TV clicked at 9 a.m., and woke me up. That’s always what happens when the power goes on or off. I thought “boy - that’s an early outage”....got up to see if power was out but it wasn’t. Have no idea what was going on. My husband is on oxygen for sleeping and he was ok... Clocks show power was off..

Fingers crossed for the rest of the day...Good luck to all!!!

It was cool enough that I put on a sweat shirt for my morning walk in the woods with the dogs this morning. I already picked up my small downed limbs from last night.

I’m waiting for a volcanic eruption - Yellowstone has been making lots of noise recently....Is Mt. Shasta quiet? Is Mt. St. Helens???
