IMO, we should find and post reasonably reliable sources that have already deconstructed the lie and replaced it with the truth and with a headline that says the truth. We need much more of that on FR IMO. The key is the headline and the first few sentences because not everyone has time to drill down.

I dislike the idea of taking any “blanket” approach to the “dreamers”, because we are more than able to discriminate between those who must *immediately* be imprisoned and/or expelled, and those we should give at least some consideration to allowing them to stay.

Look at it as a spectrum of individuals, instead of as a group.

Those that must be expelled ASAP, include:

Convicted felons, gang members and associates, perpetual government dependents, those who want to retain Mexican citizenship, those with minimal education, those who cannot speak English or are illiterate, and those that have remained unemployed for long periods.

On the other hand, those that are the best candidates to remain in the US, on a path to citizenship:

Brought to the US at a very young age. Speak English as their first language. Have attended and satisfactorily graduated from high school, community college or college. Have been gainfully employed for years, as well as paid taxes, or who are willing to pay back taxes. Service in and honorable discharge from the US military.

Even without adding any more requirements, these people are actually *better* at being Americans than 99% of the Antifa and troublemaker crowd who happened to be born here, but hate America.

My point is that right now, we can easily tell to which group these people belong. So lumping them together makes no sense, any more than lumping Free Republic conservatives with SJW communists.

I’d bet the truth is not that far off. Obama could’ve legalized the Dreamers at any point during his term. How difficult to you think it would’ve been to find Republican votes for that? But they’ve held the muy simpatico Dreamers hostage to the larger goal of “comprehensive immigration reform”, i.e. amnesty for everyone, open borders forever. If Trump can take them off the table, in return for almost anything, certainly in return for the Wall, then it’s a huge MAGA win, IMHO.

Illegal entry is a crime. Fraudulent use of a Social Security Number is a crime. Overstaying a visa is a crime. There are other crimes associated simply with being here illegally. Put them on trial for those crimes first. Also their welfare case officers, school administrators, DMV employees, etc. who aided and abetted them in these crimes.

THEN let's talk about your "convicted of any crime" criterion ...
