“Woohoo! Got dual citizenship for my daughter!” he wrote on Instagram.

American citizenship for the newborn girl was the goal of Kuzmin and his Instagram-celebrity wife, who sought the help of birth-tourism services in Florida for the arrival of their first child. They are among the estimated hundreds of Russian parents who flock to the U.S. annually for warm weather, excellent medical care, and, more importantly, birthright American citizenship.

And many, like Kuzmin and his wife, stay at President Donald Trump’s properties in Florida.

Found on DU ... a few there seem ready to delete or edit the 14 amendment or its interpretation.

The Trump angle is hilarious - as if his properties would be able to get away with discriminating against foreigners without a big stink.

Trump needs to end this NOW.

You cannot go to any other country on the planet and give birth and expect them to make you a citizen.

Wouldn’t it fall to congress or the supreme court?

Reportedly this has been going on for some time with Asian women coming to the US so their children will be born on US soil and therefore have US citizenship. But it's only newsworthy if it involves Russians and Trump properties.

Russians Flock to Trump Properties to Give Birth to U.S. Citizens

Are they giving birth in hotel rooms or on the fairway, or does Trump own some hospital?

I know there is a long history of it. Regardless of where they come from it’s ridiculous that we let it happen and has been happening for many years.

You are correct. For every Russian who comes to do this there are at least thirty women from China.

I wouldn’t mind some form of amnesty if we could permanently ban foreigners coming here to claim birthright citizenship as part of any immigration reform. I doubt this congress will have the courage.

That’s how Bruce Lee the renowned martial artist got his American citizenship. His parents were performers here on a tour.

Foreigners have been doing this for years - mostly Mexicans.

That is why the 14th Amendment needs to be re-interpreted or repealed. It came into being after the War between the States to guarantee slaves citizenship. Since then it was interpreted to grant citizenship to every child born on US soil. It can just as easily be interpreted as it was intended.

If an effective president doesn’t have significant influence over getting bills on his desk that he wants to sign, why do we obsess so over the office?

The actor Nigel Bruce (best known for his portrayal of Dr. Watson in a series of Sherlock Holmes movies) was born in Ensenada, Baja California, when his parents were vacationing there. I don’t think he was considered a Mexican citizen.

The rule of birthright citizenship was followed by U.S. courts from the beginning, long before the 14th Amendment, since it was also the rule followed by English common law. The 14th Amendment changed existing law only as to black people.

The Legislator are supposed to be YOUR servants. We elect them and send them there. To what? Then demand the president MAKE them do stuff?

Did you send people to DC that need to be convinced to change this? If so, then there is an issue on the voter’s end.
