A little lesson in US civics - Puerto Ricans are US subjects while they are in Puerto Rico, but when they come to the States, they are AUTOMATICALLY citizens.

Just a little quirk in the law. Same for the various Pacific Islanders that are US territories, or the Virgin Islands.

Puerto Ricans are American citizens. He resides in Chicago and ran for office from there.
He has many illegal aliens in his district and rightly sees them as the new Democrat majority of they can just get another amnesty.

ALL of them speak the language of their parents.
Now they will have the competitive advantage of English and an American education when they return to their own country.

Yeah, I know. The work visa confers benefits whether you don’t work at all (welfare), work only a little on the books (EITC), or really work (Social Security build-up via a valid SSN account).

That’s why I called it quasi-amnesty. Perhaps “rolling amnesty” would have been a better term in view of the renewable two year periods.

Somebody had a mother who was an English teacher, I suspect...

I know I did. My biggest "fingernail-level" peeves are, "So they took a picture of he and I...," and, "We've seen a lot of this as of late

Him and me. They took a picture of him and me. Of late. We've seen a lot of this of late.

Especially grinding when the offenders have a microphone on national TV for a living. Illiterate imbeciles who do not even know how to speak correctly preaching to us nightly.

Bailiff, whack their pee-pees!

Oh, my poor English teachers! At least a merciful god has taken them all home by now.

My mother wasn’t an English teacher. She was English! She came to the States along with her mum and dad and 12 other siblings in the mid-1920s. She worked for a doctor during the war and proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation was no doubt important. She could even write in beautiful cursive; can you believe it? :o)

"My mother wasn’t an English teacher. She was English! "

LOL! You have to admit, I was pretty close for a shot-in-the-dark guess. Well 'ard, mate. Nod's 's good's a wink, eh? Nudge, nudge, he said knowingly...

"Go down pub, drink ten pints,
get completely plastered..."
