A bipartisan group of senators plans to introduce a resolution that "[rejects] white nationalists, white supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, and other hate groups" and send the document to President Trump's desk, per Politico.
The sponsors: Democratic Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine and Republican Sens. Cory Gardner and Johnny Isakson The mechanism: The Senate often takes up symbolic resolutions honoring people on their birthdays, for example that don't reach the president's desk. However, the senators behind this one have chosen to style it as a joint resolution, meaning it will require Trump's signature.
Why it matters: It forces Trump to go on the record condemning hate groups something he halfheartedly did in the days after Charlottesville.
Sometimes I think that when posting articles on FR we need a new topic to select: Stupid Congress Stuff or something like that.
So silly
Somebody should move to amend, so as to name Antita.
He should not sign such a thing. It would be immediately interpreted to mean anyone not a Democrat or a Republican squish.
Oh of course, keep condemning “WHITE” “hatred” groups, but NEVER consider that black or Moslem or “hispanic” (hate that term) might be full of “hatred” and need to be publicly condemned!
Never mind how INSIGNIFICANT these white groups have been for decades. But 100 people across the nation is enough to have a whole campaign.
There are petitions to classify Antifa and George Soros as domestic terrorists. I do believe they have far more signatures than needed! BLM should be classified as terrorists as well, IMO.
Really? Are they also going to condemn all the other race groups in this nation?
Good! Then President Trump can use the signing ceremony to catalog the demonicRAT roots of The KKK and white supremacist groups. As well as the fact that only demonicRATS owned slaves. And the fact that demonicRATS either largely opposed or unanimously opposed Constitutional Amendments granting blacks civil rights.
Mr. President, just add Antifa (or better yet, Alt-Left) to the document before signing.
As long as AntiFa, the BLM, and the BLM are listed, I got no problems.
I know why they’re doing it and who exactly they’re targeting with it.
For a second, I misread the headline to read “condemning NorthK”.
Of course, that’s not on the agenda. Something stupid like a marginalized hate group, is.
....not a misprint.....
Without inclusion of Antifa or BLM this is an act implying that white people are bad. Trump is right to say there are two sides to an issue and Congress would do well to embrace that view.
Trump could put Antifa in his signing statement. Congress would not be able to do any work until Feb 2019.
Amazing how quickly the Senate acts on issues THEY want to see enacted....yet stall , ignore, and make issue of that which the people want enacted and enforced!
Great—another waste of time.
October 1st is approaching rapidly—tick tock.
Where’s tax reform?
Where’s the repeal of Ocare?
By all means. lets have hours of debate on a meaningless resolution based on a lie.
After ensuring there is no other crap in this resolution, then Trump should insist on adding antifa to the resolution.
B.S. This site should change its name to Unaxios.
They can piss their time away (our time) with this...but can’t get rid of Obamacare and do tax reform. What a bunch of walking t*rds.
