Isn’t China the main trader with N Korea?
Brilliant move by Trump to get China to put a leash on their pit bull Kim.
Exports from North Korea: "The top export destinations of North Korea are China ($2.34B), India ($97.8M), Pakistan ($43.1M), Burkina Faso ($32.8M) and Other Asia ($26.7M)."
Imports to North Korea: "The top import origins of North Korea are China ($2.95B), India ($108M), Russia ($78.2M), Thailand ($73.8M) and the Philippines ($53.2M)."

So, are we as a nation ready to cut off commerce with China and India? Those are the only two that are meaningful to the US. I say YES. And since India won't take back its citizens deported from the US, this is a double-win. And, since commerce stops, maybe H1B and L1 visa holders told to pack their bags and go home, that's a big triple win. Go Trump!
How about an underwater nuke and tsunami next to Pyongyang?
Cyberattack or emp against the butterball?
Heh. I wonder if the countries will think that’s worse than bombing the little bitch.
“Sanctions have not worked in the past and wont work in the future.”
Classic logical fallacy, even though it could turn out to be true.
Few of those countries can afford to cross us. Time to act. Again, bet China will resolve this quickly before it breaks their economy. Consider that US and China trade in 2016 was "U.S. goods and services trade with China totaled an estimated $648.2 billion in 2016. Exports were $169.3 billion; imports were $478.9 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with China was $309.6 billion in 2016."

Profits regardless of consequences.
Although the only viable strategy we have as war is not pretty to S Korea, but this will impact the US economy with higher prices for consumer goods. Shelves at Walmart will look like a Moscow grocery store right at the end of the USSR
But surely NK would never be doing what they're doing without the full approval of China and Russia, who are quite probably giving him his instructions.
Which is why China can clear this up. Do they seriously want to risk $648 billion in trade for $2.96 billion? North Korea is not that important to them. And if it is, bet China will face a quick regime change when they shut down their economy over North Korea.
Good points. But both China and Russia, who have been conducting annual joint war games since 2005, have been clearing preparing for a major war with us and our allies. In any case, they do appear to be stuck between a rock and a hard place as to how to proceed with their increasingly aggressive, expansionist agendas.
You are correct. Maybe that will inspire Americans to start making things themselves again.
The reason is that curtailing trade with China would destroy the American economy for no good reason.
I see, so you’re suggesting if not for Communist China, America and it’s economy would be destroyed. Is this correct?
Well, in the immediate short term yes.
When there is no stuff, Americans will revolt. And of course, many companies will be bankrupt for loss of export sales. Other firms will suffer for loss of jobs resulting from cessation of exports to China.
Like it or not, we have close (and good) relations with China
Although I firmly believe in Global Trade, I am not a despicable, conservative hated advocate of Global Government. (and, neither is China or the other Pacific rim nations)
0% chance of that.
You’re not personally invested in Communist China?
Best policy...tell every country doing business with NK and Iran...pick one, them or us, but you can’t do business with both. We not only have the biggest military stick, we have the biggest economic stick and we should use it.
Wrong...we have not used the full economic muscle we possess. Tell every country doing business with NK, you can do business with them or us, but not both...make a choice...even China would rather do biz with us than a country with a GDP = to 1% of ours.
no...... I am a realist that looks forward and Sees young people bringing change.
