Your apologism for Duterte—and then for hysterical Lincoln-hatred—has reached the comical stage at this point. Most historians rank Lincoln as the greatest President the United States ever had. The vast majority of the remainder place him in the top five.
And then there are the pathetic Confederate apologists who cling to their whimsical "Lincoln as War Criminal" fantasy.
Good luck with all that.
History has made its judgement on President Lincoln—and the far worse racism of the Confederate Founders—and your ilk lost that debate decisively—just like it will lose the debate over whether Duterte is some kind of hero—or instead a murderous Tyrant...

Absent Lincoln there would not be a USA as we know it.
He suspended habeus corpus along with a boatload of other rights in order to save the Union. All that mattered was saving the country.
And while things are not that bad in the USA right now they are that bad in the Philippines.
Duterte is doing the best he can to fix it. Imperfectly? Yes.
But at least he’s trying and he’s getting more success in his few years than were accomplished in the four centuries before he came along.
And is he brutal? Of course.
Because if the Japanese Empire couldn’t tame the Moros then it takes someone even worse to do the job.
Imagine what this guy could do as President of the USA.

It’s about time I heard someone say this. I concur. It’s neat what he’s doing - and his heart is in the right place but there is a LOT of collateral damage in it’s wake.
