I agree with you about the Sheriff and Ward splitting the vote and letting the flake squeak in.
Sheriff Arpaio needs to sit this particular race out, let Ward kick the flakes ass.
Wait for McQueegs BRAIN MAGGOT to do the bastard in then the Governor can appoint Sheriff Arpaio to that slot, he can serve out McQueegs term and then decide if he wants to run again.
If he decides not to he can always throw his support behind somebody he trusts.
