I’ll calling it now, she’s the rat nominee for President in 2020. Right Color (with bonus Asian twist), right gender, dem donors love her, Berners don’t like her for some reason but they have a hardon for single payer. No great beauty but very telegenic compared to the usual medusas like Shillery and Lizzie Warren.
When I look at her, the phrase “The female Obama” comes to mind. She’s going to be their girl in 2020.
Republicans in CA could have prevented her election by voting for Loretta Sanchez in the awful dem/dem Senate race, but they didn’t.
Sanchez is just as awful but she wouldn’t be any Presidential candidate.

Just 8 ? JFK (as sex crazed as a teen boy, in over his head and nearly started WW3), Carter (letting his Kindergartener Amy influence policymaking), Clintoon, Zero (unfortunately, both Bushes were scarcely better in the end, giving us the latter two).

Some congressmen a couple of centuries ago thought that Congress indeed could call a special election. If so, it would create an additional dilemma, since everyone assumes that it would be for a short term expiring with the term of the deceased president, but the Constitution says that the presudent is elected for a four-year term and doesn’t mention elections for shorter periods. The Constitution also empowers Congress to designate the “officer” to act as president (while continuing to hold his office) if both the presidency and vice presidency are vacant; BTW, this should be understood to be limited to officers of the Executive Branch, since “officer of the United States” excludes members of Congress (including the Speaker of the House and PPT of the Senate) and state governors, and since judicial officers would face as hopeless a conflict in acting as president while serving as judges as would members of Congress). I think that the Succession Clause preempts any hypothetical (and far-fetched) penumbral legislative power to call a special election.
