President Trump addressed the nation on Monday from Fort Myer military base in Arlington, Va., to lay out his military plans for Afghanistan.

Your way off target dude. Go read the 500+ posts on the Trump speech. Clearly not everyone heard the same thing. I wasn’t pointing fingers, and you pointing yours at me says that you have 3 three fingers pointing at the ass here.
Think of it as a large training exercise. We could leave but terrorism won’t go away and Iran’s influence would increase.
As ex military the one thing I heard repeatedly about ground conditions whether it was Viet Nam, Afghanistan, or Iraq; our troops were frustrated by having to fight with one, sometimes two, hands tied behind their back.
The common theme was “let us get in there and get it done or pull us out; this half stepping isn’t cutting it”. This was especially bad when obummer was micromanaging the troops from the safety of the Oval Office. I think it was really ValJar who was pulling those strings but I have no proof; just an educated guess.
I sometimes wonder why obama didn’t come out of the closet while in office and start wearing a dress. When it came to defending this nation he was nothing but a wussie. My visceral disgust for the gay muslim is still in effect since he has made it his life’s work to undermine our President instead of doing the right thing and stay out of it. No one likes having someone nip at their heels like obummer is doing to President Trump. We prayed for a strong leader and got one. Now if the damn leftists would just STFU for a minute; he and we can get this ship straightened out.

What I heard was quite a dramatic change, actually along the lines of fighting ISIS in Syria/Iraq. No more regime change. No more imposing our form of government. Focus on killing terrorists. Stop enabling Pakistan's support of terrorists. Don't say anything that emboldens terrorists. No quota of troops to add or subtract.
I thought it was a masterfully done speech.

I agree, very well thought out and well done speech, a bit too good in fact. I wonder who wrote it. They deserve some accolades. Perhaps it was a collaboration between the speech writer and President Trump.
I think that he seemed too stiff and stared at the teleprompter too much to have written very much of it himself.
What is your assessment of why the Soviet Union couldn’t win in Afghanistan?
Trump is merely posturing.

Trump has a US Navy and Air Force worn out by the cyclic destructive grinding ineffective rules of engagement of Barrack Obama.
The US Navy is asleep colliding its ships run by Obama appointees after purging the command of our forces of real fighters. The US Marines are crashing their own aircraft in record numbers, Obama has starved them, yet nothing is being done.
What will our soldiers fight with, pitch forks? Get our people out and B-52 Helmund province. And make regular B-52 “ mail “ deliveries sporadically. Who cares about Afghanistan and the Taliban? Let them do their worst to Russia and the Liberal Fascist “Democracies” of Europe.No more US blood unless you draft the entire team of the kneed up Cleveland Browns and the rest of the field hands in America.
Candidate Trump said he would stay in Afghanistan. He was opposed to regime change - this isn’t regime change and it’s a war we are already in.
With the obama admin, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out they knew who was conservative and who wasn’t and were purposefully putting conservative soldiers in harm’s way. It would be interesting to know the political leanings of those wounded or killed during those 8 years.
ROE = Christians from the flyover states get sent to the front and told not to shoot until they get shot.
I liked the speech to, but is he going to get flack for mentioning Barcelona and not Charlottesville.
Love he pointed out Pakistan, said no nation building, and there to kill terrorists.
