I predict more of a Nixonian strategy.

Nixon too sent more troops to Vietnam. But he rotated troops and gradually pulled out .

Knowing a bit about Mattis and McMaster this is a go in heavy and exterminate the problem strategy.

Last April we dropped a huge MOAB bomb on an ISIS tunnel complex in Afghanistan. What isn’t getting much attention is that this bomb cooked 500 Pakistani national troops there giving protection to ISIS. Of course Pakistan is supposed to be our ally- just like they were when they were hiding Bin Laden. And since their troops weren’t supposed to be there working with the enemy they couldn’t complain. Anyway that MOAB was greenlighted by McMaster, who is still an active duty four star. Killing those Paki troops did serious damage to ISIS. Now there is an opportunity to finish them off.
