The Trump administration is working with like-minded sheriffs from around the country on a plan to channel undocumented immigrants from local jails into federal detention, according to several sheriffs involved in the discussions. If it succeeds, it could vastly expand the dragnet that has already begun to transform immigration enforcement in the United States.
The plan is intended to circumvent court decisions that have thus far limited the role of local law enforcement in immigration. It involves a legal move regarding detainers, which are requests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement to local sheriffs or police departments to hold people who are suspected of being in the country illegally, even after they have posted bail, finished their jail sentence or otherwise resolved their criminal cases.
A handful of sanctuary cities refuse to honor detainers on ideological grounds, but a larger number of sheriffs who otherwise support the Trump administration have also turned down detainers because courts have found that they violate the Fourth Amendment.
The legal move, in which sheriffs would essentially serve as contractors for ICE, is intended to protect sheriffs from such court battles, which have sometimes resulted in costly payouts. Some legal advocates for immigrants, though, expressed doubt that courts would view it as being different from current practices...

Yes! Why should we be paying for their room & board?
Can’t understand why anyone would object to this
When will the Illegal immigrant lovers start screaming about this logical action?
What will ABCNNBCBS Fake News say to defend these worthless and dangerous illegal thugs/scum?
If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
Its a kind of window dressing on the same practice, said Omar Jadwat, the director of the American Civil Liberties Unions immigrants rights project. It doesnt really change the legal analysis.
So here we have the ACLU lawyer, some third world $hit bag himself, “protecting” immigrant’s “rights!” From the look of things, we’ve allowed too many Indians (the one’s from India) into our country already as they are constantly turning up as disruptors of our government. Prime example is Kashima Sawat in Seattle, “mother” of the $15 minimum wage and other socialist crap.
This is great but why has it taken 8 months?
Excellent idea! Go Trump!
I know. I’m getting pretty frustrated with the slowness of the change. On the other hand, Trump is being blocked at every turn. Most of the time by his own party. It is an uphill battle.
I figure he really only had two years. Because who knows what the midterms will bring. It’s now whittling down to one year and a few months. If we want to see a real change it has to happen NOW.
And Congress is to blame for a lot of it. Traitor RINOs. We need to get our guillotines out and be ready.
>>Cant understand why anyone would object to this
Patriots support this as simply common sense. Traitors object.

This bypasses a lot of local judges’ mischief.
He’s one man against The Machine.
These traitors STILL haven’t approved hundreds of Trump staffers even after all this time. Remember 100%, EVERY DAMN ONE of the Senators voted to block recess appointments.
It is deliberate. It is sedition, no less, and We the People have understandably run out of patience. We know better than to expect Establishment Jeff to hold any of them to account. He’s one of them.
>>weve allowed too many Indians (the ones from India) into our country already
Purge, baby, purge!
Until the hard core evil doers are purged, restoration appears unlikely.
The genuinely misguided ones could probably be deprogrammed and rehabilitated, but the hard core ones need to be dropped on some isolated island to work out their “issues”.
“Purge, baby, purge!

I don’t want to paint with too broad a brush, because we do have some really good people who have emigrated here from India. That said, India is a Socialist country and like all foreign places, we need to implement immigration policies that comport with our country’s real values as opposed to those “real values” that the RATs are always talking about, “the values” that are antithetical to our country’s foundation.
Where’s the wall?!
Wheres the wall?!You mean the one the Republicans approved decades ago and not even (R)Bush bothered to build?
Where have all you (nevertrump loudmouth) naysayers been all this time?
Trump does to be solid on deportation-that is good
They should also give employees a reward for ratting out illegals in the work place.
