Most of those are “degrees” and worthless anyway.
Headline says they are returning them, paragraph says they are preparing to return them.

Of course, it isn’t the diploma that is important; it is the transcript — which will still show their graduation majors, minors, and degrees.
Most folks who have completed at least a two year course of academic study at a university end up with an academic degree. High school or a more limited course of study and you can earn a diploma.
Yet little snowflake will keep his degree on his resume. Hypocrite.

Ahh. Now I see what you were saying. Have you considered that he was just calling the piece of paper the diploma, because I was thinking the same thing. The degree is what I earned and cannot be taken away or given away. The diploma is just the piece of paper.
I’m sure that’s his plan as well. He makes a big deal about sending his “diploma” back, but his resume will still show that he has the degree.
Yes, that would be a good suggestion who are not just satisfied with chopping fingers.
