Horowitz: 'Idiot Republicans' Sucked Into Left's 'Charade' Against Trump

The leftist extremists are the true "threat," not the "marginal bozos" of universally condemned hate groups, and "idiot Republicans" are getting sucked into the "ludicrous and ridiculous... charade... to destroy the presidency of Donald Trump," best-selling author David Horowitz told Newsmax TV.

"If there's a serious fascist movement in America, it's the left," Horowitz told guest host Jonathan Gilliam on Thursday's "The Schnitt Show." "They're the ones who go around to cities picking fights, violence — they want to shut up other people. Even these alt-right clowns were not about shutting up the opposition and suppressing it.

"One fascism in America, it's coming from the left – with the support of the Democratic Party I should say. That's the reality."

Horowitz, who himself was once liberal/progressive before rejecting that path for conservatism in the 1970s, said the narrative of President Trump as supportive of neo-Nazis is "fiction... cooked up by the left to attack Trump."

"Donald Trump is, unlike our previous president Obama, is very pro-Israel, and he's the first American president that has Jewish family for crying out tears," Horowitz exasperatingly told Gilliam. "This is so ludicrous and ridiculous — and that's what conservatives and Republicans should be saying.

"This is a charade but its one purpose is — from the time he was elected — the Democrats were going to out to destroy the presidency of Donald Trump, to undermine, to sabotage it, and that hurts all Americans."

The problem is 90% of the MSM will cover up anything that is negative to the left or RINOs.

He nails it every time. Only one better is Thomas Sowell and the late, great Wm. F. Buckley Jr.

I’m from PA but I have a Great Grandfather who fought for the Confederacy. 30 years after the war, he moved north to a small community where he lived with his family until he died at the age of 80. He was buried in the wooded graveyard behind the church in our small town.

Every Memorial Day, and on their birthdays, the locals place flags and flowers on the graves of war veterans. On his grave they have always placed a lonely confederate flag, and I never heard a single complaint. My great grandfather was a beloved member of this northern community, and now lies peacefully in his grave surrounded by union soldiers and their descendants.

I believe this was not at all unusual. I believe people who were alive during the CW, or who actually conversed with people who were, developed an understanding about how to reconcile, following the tragedy of a war fought “brother against brother”, as they say.

A civil war isn’t like other wars where the the losers are vanquished. There had to be a mutual respect in order to continue - my great grandfather was never accused (while he was alive) of fighting to keep slavery, or any other evil intent. By all accounts, he was taken at his word, that he was fighting to protect his home and family, and respected for it.

I think that whatever understanding the two sides came to, that helped them reconcile, move forward, respect one another, is now forgotten.

It’s almost like a horrible fight between spouses; it’s awful but finally they make up - one apologizes, the other shares some blame. They embrace and move on.

Then, a few weeks later, when they have forgetton how horrible the fight was, one spouse might stupidly say something like “but it was all your fault and I should never have apologized” - then the fight begins all over again.

This business of tearing down Confederate statues is extremely dangerous, because it amounts to a retraction of the terms of peaceful reconciliation that allowed the war to end.

It’s amazing that somewhere along the way being called “racist” is the worst thing that can happen to someone.

Like Rubio who said violence is OK if you don't like the speech or the people speaking? Or Romney who doubled down on calling the counter-protesters peaceful?
