ANTIFA and BLM exist to confront.
The base bears the following inscription:
TO THE MEN OF BOSTON
WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY
ON LAND AND SEA IN THE WAR
WHICH KEPT THE UNION WHOLE
DESTROYED SLAVERY
AND MAINTAINED THE CONSTITUTION
THE GRATEFUL CITY
HAS BUILT THIS MONUMENT
THAT THEIR EXAMPLE MAY SPEAK
TO COMING GENERATIONS
Not that common history means anything to these crazies today, The Commons has a long-standing tradition of free speech. During my undergrad years in Boston, it was quite common to have someone standing on a *soapbox* preaching about some issue or another. Often a small group of curious would gather, sometimes engaging in discussion with the *orator*. Most often people would move on, realizing the orator was a nutcase. Never saw a cop that was needed to break-up any altercations b/c of the speech.
{{{Ah, the good old days}}}
