I highly doubt that mistake will be made twice. Lee should have by-passed it and moved right on to Washington full force. The battle should be in Washington.

How would he bypass it if he would basically have to go south while Feds were still coming north from DC direction? He’d have to make a sweeping move and the MD mountains weren’t always so easy to get through without a fight anyway.

Honestly believe that if Stonewall had been alive with Lee at that battle then the south would have marched on DC and possibly won.

The battle still is in Washington. I doubt that the Trump Interior Department will cave.

As for Lee, at the time Washington, D.C. was ringed with forts and had a garrison not much smaller than Lee's army was. No way he could have taken it. Not with the Army of the Potomac in full chase as well.
