Trump to make ObamaCare payments to insurers for August

The Trump administration will make key ObamaCare payments to insurers for the month of August, according to a White House spokesman.

Insurers have been asking Congress and the administration for certainty that they’ll continue to receive cost-sharing reduction payments (CSRs), which compensate insurers for subsidizing the out-of-pocket costs for low-income enrollees.

Instead, the administration has been making the payments on a monthly basis, which total $7 billion for fiscal 2017. President Trump has threatened to end the payments, saying ObamaCare is on track to "implode."

Senate Health Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) has said he would like to include funding for CSRs in a bipartisan, short-term stabilization bill for ObamaCare. The panel will begin hearings on stabilizing the marketplace the first week of September.

We need transparency. POTUS needs to tweet every payment along with the outrageous salary of the insurance company CEO that is getting it.

This is a heist.

There are two parties in Washington - Trial lawyers vs the insurance industry. The insurance/repubs look like they snuck one by.

It’s another welfare payment but the law says we’ll have to increase another, different, welfare payment if we don’t make this one. No savings if we don’t do it ..unfortunately.

Trust me, these subsidy payments aren’t paying CEO salaries. Even with these payments insurance companies are still hemoraging massive losses for Obamacare policies. Both the insurance companies I have worked for are losing insane amounts on these policies. On over 50 Million a year and the other more than a third of a billion a year and that’s with these subsidies.

Obamacare is an abject failure and republicans (many of them). Have no intention of ending it.

The people are screwed and the politiicians don’t care.

The politicians do care. Socialized medicine will make them even richer via corporate lobbying and jobs.

No CEO of a company losing many millions while on taxpayer subsides should be raking in those multi-million dollar salaries. I certainly don’t when my sales are down. But then I don’t have lobbyists in DC carrying my water and bribing politicians to subsidize me.

Boo hoo. The insurance companies lobbied for Obamacare.

Exactly. And are the spending any lobbying money now to get it repealed it? No. Once you “follow the money” you can see for certain that insurance companies love socialized medicine.

Gonna be pretty hard for insurers to set rates or determine where they are going to offer coverage given the size of the losses that we taxpayers are bailing out.

If insurers set rates artificially low anticipating continuing payments, many will driven into bankruptcy if Trump stops paying for their losses and ObamaCare implodes

If insurers price their policies at true market rates , the price for insurance will be so astronomically high no one will be able to afford it.

If Trump stops paying now, he will get the blame and lose all his leverage.

Fair is fair because the insurance companies are blocking repeal of ObamaCare.

A truth that's told with bad intent, beats all the lies you can invent.

William Blake

The POTUS doesn't write a check. If the payment is required by law, Trump can't stop it.

Q: Is the payment required by law?

Trump should tell #FakeRepublicans no bailouts, and that any bailout is DOA. End it, don't mend it.

Commie care won’t get repealed until republicans have the presidency and 100% of congress.

And even then, it’s speculative.

Might be quicker and more efficient to just have that revolution that’s brewing up.

Cost sharing stripped from taxpayers in ADDITION to higher premiums for the taxpayers to pay for new immigrants, illegal aliens, parasites, and every able-bodied slug. Obamacare was nothing but the largest increase in welfare since its inception.

Yep, and a major goal of Obama was to bust the insurance industry. Take down another industry and you have destroyed jobs for the middle class and taken down America one more notch. Yeah, hate and change baby.

Last time I checked, most of the big insurance companies have dropped out of the program. Please note, all the politicians, their staff, the obamas, and Clintons all avoided participation.
