On Monday morning, Merck & Co. Chief Executive Ken Frazier resigned from President Trump’s manufacturing jobs council to protest Trump’s deficient condemnation of the racist violence in Charlottesville, Va. Since then, membership on Trump’s Potemkin Village-like CEO boards has begun to look like something of a litmus test for American corporations and business organizations.
Two CEOs followed Frazier out the door on Monday: Under Armour’s Kevin Plank and Intel’s Brian Krzanich. But representatives of some 40 other corporations and other organizations, including a couple of retired CEOs, are still members of the jobs council and a second panel designated the “President’s Strategic and Policy Forum.”

Those who are withdrawing are extremely stupid, because the point is not whether they like Trump or not, but being in the Council gives them an opportunity to influence policy.
Why do we need a Manufacturing Jobs Council in the first place?
It would have been nice if you could have used your 100 or so words to list the companies. That way we wouldn’t have to give a click to the leftist a$$holes times.
When a government controls all the rules, has regulations for everything, and in particular mandates funding or purchasing of particular products, then every activity becomes political and every large business becomes a crony or it loses the game.
Why are we surprised then to find crony-capitalist companies deeply involved in politics and lining-up for, or against, Trump?
The 21st. Century CEO is a spineless, gutless weasel.

Governor Scott of Florida has a similar council. Their job is to bring employment opportunities to Florida. My former boss was a member. He said if a company could scare up just 50 jobs Governor Scott was on the phone making a deal. I was impressed. My former boss said they had brought quite a few by leveraging other divisions of the companies represented and by talking up the opportunities with suppliers and customers. I presume Trump is doing something similar. I suspect Florida poached jobs from the likes of California and Illinois. I would guess that Trump’s people are getting them from overseas.
Why do we need it?
Well we don’t necessarily need it. However...
Trump wanted it?!? Perhaps because he wanted input to help formulate policies to MAGA.
I supported his decision and feel that input from the private sector should be a good thing.
