As officials across the country examine whether to display Confederate monuments in U.S. cities, the area park dedicated to one of the most noteworthy Civil War battles has no plans to remove anything memorializing Confederates.
In the wake of white supremacist rally and ensuing violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, Gettysburg National Military Park has not received any new complaints about its Confederate monuments at the park, said spokeswoman Katie Lawhon.
More than 1,300 monuments, markers and plaques are housed at the park to memorialize the historic battle, including a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee and a Confederate flag on display in the museum. The park maintains that the memorials are important to the cultural landscape and has no plans to remove any monuments or statues.
"The National Park Service is committed to safe guarding these unique and site-specific memorials in perpetuity, while simultaneously interpreting holistically and objectively the actions, motivations, and causes of the soldiers and states they commemorate," states policy from the U.S. National Parks Service.

The Taliban Left will inevitably try to “clean up” the history at Gettysburg.
They damn well shouldn’t. If there is a movement to do that, this Yankee is going to drive to Gettysburg to protest.

By publicizing this news blurb, the Left may just decide to pay Gettysburg a visit and do some destruction for they know not how to create, build and preserve.
If they attempt this, the punishment for intruding into the park and vandalism must be very very harsh, like firing squad by mini ball execution...
Confederate soldiers are American soldiers and are buried as such in national cemeteries. Will the next step include digging them up and dumping them all in a depleted coal mine? Don’t think the scum on the left won’t do that

Trump has to come out and call for an end to this hysteria. The move to obliterate history. Where are the “mounuments men”? The special Army group who went into Germany at end of WW2 and reclaimed the art works the Nazis had looted all over Europe.
This is nothing short of Taliban blowing up the Buddhas carved in mountain side with howitzers, of the ISIS hords ruining Palmyra, and the many museums they ravaged in the name of purification.
We know the left will next try to erradicate our Founding Fathers, just as they are pulling down the statutes of honorable military men and leaders.
It depens on who’s doing the destruction and why. If locals want to have a rhubarb over local statuary, I’m happy to leave them to it. When folks start breaking the law, that’s a different kettle of fish. If there’s a legal avenue, people should use it. Gettysburg is a NP. Nobody’s tearing down anything any time soon.
