29 states had ratified the 17th Amendment before Wilson was inaugurated.
The required 36 states adopted it with two months of Wilson’s first term
Teddy Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Wilson were all in favor of the 17th.

Laws can never and should never try to take the place of what We the People can and should do. It is up to laws to guard our freedoms but it is up to We the People to exercise our freedoms. That includes throwing corrupt politicians out and keeping them out and vetting and electing non-politicians who are willing to serve for America’s good, not their own.

The only action we need from the feds is to UNDO 100 years of unconstitutional bureaucracy building and unconstitutional acts.

I agree with most of what you've said. The Senate, under the losership of the Turtle, had a chance to undo one of the most egregious laws (Obamacare) ever foisted on the American people, and they choked! I'm all for full repeal and leave it to the individual!

And, like you said, less is more!

You make assumptions that do not reflect reality.

You're absolutely right. We're not here to acquiesce, surrender, and become POW's to progressive "reality". We're here to CHANGE reality. Facts are changeable. Truth is not.

It is a fact that about 80% of the federal government is unconstitutional which means about 80% of the federal government is tyranny. You want to accept that fact? If you do, you're a POW to that fact. But we're here to change that fact and move up to the truths of the Declaration of Independence which frames the Constitution, the Supreme law of the Land.

And as I said, the only "activism" we should be seeing out of Congress is DISMANTLING the unconstitutional portion of the feds as here, in getting the feds completely out of healthcare where they have no constitutional authority.

Then at some point, we should put Congress on a part-time basis. Forcing the feds into their constitutional limitations doesn't require full-time spurious lawmaking which has brought us WAY too many laws, most of them unconstitutional. Send them home where they can work for a living in between valid congressional sessions.

The "aggressive action " is to kill the cancer of the unconstitutional tyranny of the federal government and get the patient of the American People out of the hospital and back to a free and productive life. It is not to keep the American People in the ICU with "busy" self-interested congressional "doctoring".

No argument there, Jim. What I was trying to communicate was how the pols would get around term limits. As fast as one was kicked out, they’d have another one lined up. Their agenda would still be advanced. I still agree with term limits though, if nothing more than to toss out the same grotesque faces of their commie agenda.

What is equally, if not more important, is to try to restore proper education (like the old days, when we were actually taught the Constitution accurately) so that our electorate wouldn’t be so easily duped and managed.

Article V may be the only way to correct that

Despite what Levine and others say, Article V is a work-around, cumbersome, and fraught with traps. We don't need a constitutional amendment to enforce the Constitutional. We simply need to enforce the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended.

First, we have to define and be clear about our ultimate national and political goal, which is nothing less than restoring our Free Constitutional Republic.

Now that we have a fighter in the WH, the next objective to meet that goal is restoring the constitutional independent sovereignty of the states. That means the people of each state MUST decide to kick the state-politician bums out and put in non-politician haters of financial dependence on the feds and lovers of constitutional freedom from the feds.

Restoring the constitutional independent sovereignty of the states is a VERY BIG deal that almost NEVER gets talked about. You don't need Article V for that. You need an American People who are willing to fight for and take back THEIR freedom and THEIR Constitution on the federal and state level.

Getting the states straightened out also means among other things getting more non-politician, America-lovers into Congress.

On the Executive Branch side, restoring our Free Constitutional Republic means preparing NOW for 2024. We MUST get the right guy in the WH in 2024 to finish what Trump has started - a fearless fighter who is ready, willing, and able to dismantle the unconstitutional 80% of the federal government which would mean sending home packing hundreds of thousands of officials, bureaucratic heads, and government workers without a job. Weep not for them - American will cheer, the economy will boom, and soon they'll all have plenty of opportunities to make a living like many, many, more Americans.

Good thinking.

Also lets try to repeal Amendment XVII, which has weakened state representation in Congress.

Right. As I said, the only thing they really need to busy themselves with is work themselves out of a full-time job by dismantling the unconstitutional portion of about 80% of the feds. Won’t happen but for God and a determined American People.

Thanks BD.

I really don’t think you can say this stuff too much in or out of FR. If we’re going to restore our Free Constitutional Republic, we need to shout it from the rooftops.

So, you DO want them doing something?

That’s why we call them the “do nothing Congress”. Because they ARE NOT doing what YOU want them to do. What they promised to do if we would give them a majority and if we would give them a Republican president.

Obviously, doing nothing at this point keeps Big Government in place.

But thanks for the scream caps.
