Germany on Wednesday urged North Korea and the United States to show “restraint” after apocalyptic threats from President Donald Trump and Pyongyang in their mounting war of words.

“We are watching the increasing rhetorical escalation regarding the Korean Peninsula with the greatest concern,” foreign ministry spokesman Martin Schäfer told reporters. “That is why we call on all sides to use restraint.”

Schäfer said Berlin was convinced a “military option” could not be “the answer in the quest for a nuclear weapon-free” region. He urged the international community to “thoroughly implement” the latest round of sanctions against North Korea approved by the United Nations Security Council. And he backed a call by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to resume talks with Pyongyang if it halts ballistic missile tests. …

Yeah. The USA should go restrain the Dear Leader in a rubber room. And Merkel can be in there too.

Getting China to quit feeding the rabid dog would be nice.

But you do what you got to do.

Looks like President Trump’s tactics are working. Hopefully all these countries pressure China.

Might our fine Dept of State urge that the good people of Germany show restraint in allowing immigration of non-assimilating muslim ingrates?

South Korea and Japan need to announce that they will immediately peruse a nuclear arsenal as a deterrent to the nork threat. the only thing that will get the Chinese and Russians into the game is an arms race in their back yard.

If Guam, United States territory who’s natives are American citizens, were attacked by North Korean missiles, would Germany and the rest of NATO come to the aid of the United States?

Restraint from Klinton, Little Bush and ‘The Great ObamaNaion’ is how we have gotten into this situation with a nation that has been at war with us since 1950.

That’s what Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty explicitly states they must do, frankly.
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all—and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self defense recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.

Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security.
And Article 6 has explicit definitions of what constitutes such an attack.
For the purpose of Article 5, an armed attack on one or more of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack:
  • on the territory of any of the Parties in Europe or North America, on the Algerian Departments of France 2, on the territory of or on the Islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer;

  • on the forces, vessels, or aircraft of any of the Parties, when in or over these territories or any other area in Europe in which occupation forces of any of the Parties were stationed on the date when the Treaty entered into force or the Mediterranean Sea or the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer.
But the other parties to this treaty were quite “restrained” back during 9/11 on that score. Even critical. Seems like they wanted to shirk their obligations as therein stated.

Perhaps the language with respect to the communistic United Nations ought to be stripped out, too.

Bottom line: Germany and France would not aid the US militarily but would criticize any war effort and try to demoralize the American people. NATO is obsolete. Trump should have followed his instincts and disengaged.

NATO is subverted; the debacle in the Balkans proved that, where Bill Clinton willingly rode to the aid of the socialistic “Europeans” all for their elites’ benefit and to the detriment of the people of that region.

But “Europe” should not be allowed to come together militarily, since they have acted as our enemy in the past, and also since (frankly) they want an excuse to do so way too much.
