United Nations Security Council voted to adopt sanctions against North Korea

The United National Security Council on Saturday voted unanimously to approve sanctions against North Korea in the wake of the country's adamant display of nuclear arsenal.

Spearheaded by the US, the resolution bans minerals, including coal, iron, iron ore, lead, and lead ore, and seafood exports worth more than one billion dollars. The measure serves as the seventh set of UN sanctions implemented against the regime since it carried out its first nuclear test in 2006.

U.S. ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley lauded the council's undisputed unity regarding the sanctions.

"Today the full Security Council has come together to put the North Korean dictator on notice. And this time, the council has matched its actions and words." - Nikki Haley, U.S. ambassador to the UN

Always skeptical about UN resolutions, but I read elsewhere that the US has been negotiating these sanctions with China for a while. That Haley is hailing it may be a good sign, given her recent comments about the general uselessness of UN sanctions.

Fake Deal!! TWB ‘The fine print has the US removing some military systems, like THAAD.’ So they promise to do something after we withdraw THAAD and keep the bombers away. ‘Strategic deployments’ can mean a lot of things. “Anyone seen Hans Brix recently?”

Don’t be ridiculous. He was totally eaten by a shark years ago, before he was able to save the world by completing a series of strongly worded letters.

Just more pi$$ing into the wind at the UN. I hope I’m wrong, but armed conflict is the only avenue that’s going to guarantee our safety from Nork missiles. Somehow a way must be found to disrupt the Norks command and control system that governs the weapons that are a threat to South Korea. The other thing that’s never mentioned is what are the “deterrent” armaments that SK has trained on the Norks and could they blunt the Norks attack on Seoul.

Well, I think it took Col. Sanders even more than 7 tries to make his KFC, but I'm not licking my fingers just yet.
