York County pastor launches campaign to unseat Scott Perry

George Scott, a 20-year military veteran and Lutheran pastor, launched his campaign to unseat third-term U.S. Rep Scott Perry for the 4th congressional district seat on Tuesday.

Scott, who lives in Dillsburg, is running for the Democratic nomination. He announced his candidacy to his Harrisburg-area residents in the in the capitol rotunda, saying he would "restore sanity to our political process." It was Scott's second of four events across the district planned for Tuesday.

Scott grew up on a farm in Adams County and enlisted in the Army after college. He said Tuesday he served as an Army officer in countries in South America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. After leaving the military, Scott worked in the private sector and for the federal government for a few years.

In 2009, he entered the ministry, and was ordained a Lutheran pastor four years ago. Scott said his experience as a pastor could help him govern.

"One of the most important things I think as a pastor is that you get to see that people are struggling," he said. "We see that everyday. People who can't pay their bills, people who can't find good jobs, people who can't get affordable health care."

Scott said he will focus on improving education quality and affordability, job prospects and healthcare availability for the district -- issues he believes can hold people back if not addressed.

"Our healthcare system is not functioning the way it should be," he said. "If you can't get the medical care that you need, then you're not truly free."

Scott is the first Democrat to announce for the election in 2018. Perry won the 4th congressional district handily in 2016, besting opponent Joshua Burkholder with a large margin of a vote. The 4th district -- long a GOP stronghold --includes parts of Cumberland County and Harrisburg, as well as Adams and York Counties.

Perry himself has experience in the military, having served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He has been a supporter of Pres. Donald Trump, and ran in 2016 on a platform partly of increasing defense spending and opposing the Affordable Care Act.

Scott said Tuesday he would begin his campaign by speaking to voters across the district about the issues they wanted to address. He pledged be a committed candidate, saying he is "running to win."

"I believe that the people of this district are ready to vote for a leader that represents all people," he said.

Anyone who is a Democrat cannot be a Christian pastor, not in this day. It is mutually exclusive.

There is more to say:

http://www.trinitylutheraneb.org/about/our-pastor.html

In his own words:

“During most of my adult years, I was an agnostic, a person who thought that God’s existence couldn’t be proved or disproved. But God was patient, and at the right time, the Holy Spirit came into my life in a powerful way. Since then, I have gone from attending church occasionally, to being a church member, to becoming an actual disciple of Jesus Christ.”

The problem with Perry is that he is a consistent supporter of the Trump hating leadership as in Speaker Paul Ryan.

Before that he supported John Boehner and had John Boehner in the district to do fundraising for him.

Perry will say he supports President Donald Trump, but his support of Paul Ryan shows where his heart is.

Perry should be facing a challenger in the GOP Primary who calls him out and replaces him.

Charlie Gerow?

Chris Reilly?

Scott Wagner is already committed to the Gubernatorial race.

Let me guess, one of those God Fearing Lutheran Pastor’s that love Planned Murderhood like every loyal DemoncRat?

>>>Scott said his experience as a pastor could help him govern<<<

He is aware that the DemoncRat Party believes that the Constitution actually has the phrase “Separation of Church and State” in its Text, right?

Won’t comment on the local politics of the district per se.

Just a note that someone who is pro-Trump and anti-Ryan like Paul Nehlen in Ryan’s own district and Tom Massie from Kentucky would be a better choice in Congressman Perry’s district as well.

He is/was a pastor in the ELCA, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual marriage, not exactly a Christian church at that.

His association with the satanic ELCA says more than any empty words he may utter.

If he is a Democrat, he is not a Disciple of Jesus Christ. Actual or otherwise.
