North Korea launched a ballistic missile on Friday, the Pentagon confirmed.
It was not immediately known if the missile, which was expected to land in the Sea of Japan, was an intercontinental ballistic missile or another type of rocket.
“I can confirm that we detected a launch of a ballistic missile from North Korea," Pentagon spokesman Capt. Jeff Davis said. "We are assessing and will have more information soon."
The launch, which occurred shortly before 11 a.m. Eastern time, had been expected by U.S. analysts who initially believed the launch date would be Thursday -- the 64th anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended fighting in the Korean war. But bad weather apparently scuttled the launch and it was moved back one day.

I’m hearing reports this one flew to an altitude of 3000 kilometers. Did the last one fly to 2000 kilometers?
Or was that miles?
Just curious if this indicates a longer potential radius for this missile.

I heard it flew 7 times higher than the Space Station so it could hit anywhere it was programed. Other poster mentioned shooting them down..I totally agree.
We’re all arguing about Scaramucci using bad language and McCain being 1 of maybe 10 senators that would have killed the healthcare bill, yet the Korean story is far more important and not garnering much attention in the media.

One thing I’m always curious about in cases like this, is how do we know it worked?
How do we know they weren’t aiming for China and it flew the wrong way?
How do we know the thing shouldn’t have reached the other side of Japan and fell woefully short?
How do we know it went East when it was supposed to go south.
We need to get that drone space shuttle/Killer Lazer back up there. It was fun shooting them down.
Consider what the Norks are doing as an act of war. Shoot down their missile then we launch one of our own.
If they could pull that off, I’d have to change my mind about the crazy fat boy.
