On Trump and Russia, the system is working (#NeverTrump Alert)
NY Post ^ | July 27, 2017 | Ralph Peters

Given the turmoil in Washington and the media’s need for in-the-moment headlines, it can be hard to recognize the inspiring fact that the Founding Fathers got it right: The system of government they designed still works.

The Constitution’s separation of powers saves us time and again. The president has great, but not unlimited, authority. To override a president’s will, Congress has to muster a two-thirds — thus, bipartisan — majority. The Supreme Court ensures that actions taken by Congress or the president conform to the Constitution. And no one’s above the law.

Sure, that’s junior high school civics. But we need reminding these days.

The commonest complaint one hears about Washington is that “They can’t get anything done.” But the men who designed our laws were wary of foolish actions committed in haste, as well as of the tyranny of a majority.

The Constitution is the finest tool designed by humankind to prevent men and women from acting like deadly idiots. Adams, Jefferson, Hamilton & Co. didn’t want our laws made in a hurry. Health care reform has been hard because it’s so complex, but it, too, will be concluded.

Meanwhile, consider three other pressing (and interrelated) issues, each of which shows, in its different way, that this great system works: Russia sanctions, the president’s rage at his attorney general and the special counsel’s investigation.

– Russia sanctions. On Tuesday, the House passed a critically important sanctions bill smacking Russia for its attack on our elections, as well as slapping Iran and North Korea. Only three House members voted against the bill. The Senate, which had already passed a similar bill by a veto-proof majority, is expected to endorse this modified bill in the coming days.

Given the president’s unexplained and untoward affection for Vladimir Putin, it’s essential that Congress act as a brake on policy. And that’s just what Congress is doing, thanks to provisions in the Constitution.

What if Russia actually didn't do anything and it was the Pakistanis working for the Dems who did the leaking? Why does this #NeverTrumper always assume the worst when it comes down to Trump's decision making? You would think winning an election would have at least given him pause for thought.

So this tool thinks that 2/3rds of the Senate will vote to convict when that goal wasn’t achieved with Andrew Johnson or Bill Clinton?

When I put together a list of the reasons why I don't read the NY Post or watch Fox News anymore, Ralph Peters is right there in the #1 spot on the list.

At that point, I don't even bother adding anything to the list.

I bet the board in Trump Towers didn’t approve Peters for an apartment.

Peters is a slobbering, spitting, war-monger. I’m sure he is worried about conserving his bodily fluids.

While what Mr. Peters states about two of the branches is partially correct, the Executive and Legislative branches, the extreme overreach and legislating from the bench by the Supreme Court, coupled with the Establishment ownership of the Legislative branch means the system broken to an extent that it appears there is no resolution short of either an actual spiritual revival like this country experienced just previous to the Revolutionary War, or, all-out war.

Ralph Peters endorsed Hillary, the wife of The Rapist and the pro-abortion candidate of the pro-abortion party.

In other words, Ralph Peters is a psychopath.
