Trump Goes After Murkowski Over Healthcare Vote
Townhall ^ | 07/26/17 | Leah Barkoukis

President Trump singled out Sen. Lisa Murkowski Wednesday morning on Twitter over how the Alaska Republican voted Tuesday on healthcare.

“Senator @lisamurkowski of the Great State of Alaska really let the Republicans, and our country, down yesterday,” he wrote. “Too bad!”

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump The crowd in Ohio was amazing last night - broke all records. We all had a great time in a great State. Will be back soon!

Murkowski first joined Democrats in voting against the motion to allow debate to begin on a bill that repealed major provisions of Obamacare. Republican Sen. Susan Collins also voted against the measure, which was only passed 51-50 after Vice President Mike Pence stepped in to break the tie.

“I have repeatedly said that healthcare reform, and especially major entitlement reform, should go through the committee process where stakeholders can weigh in and ideas can be vetted in a bipartisan forum,” Murkowski said in a statement on the motion to proceed vote.

“I voted ‘no’ today to give the Senate another chance to take this to the committee process. I still believe that’s the best route, but we will now have this debate on the open floor. We all recognize that we have much work to do to address the healthcare concerns in this country. My commitment is to work with all of my colleagues in the Senate to find solutions that benefit all Americans by increasing access and reducing the cost of care.”

The Alaska senator then joined eight other Republicans in voting against a repeal and replacement proposal later on Tuesday.

Anyone know when Collins and Murkowski are up for re-election? Collins is probably the best we can hope for from Maine but Alaska can certainly do better.

King is up next year. Collins isn't up until 2020.

Murkowski, McCain, Hoeven and Rubio were all re-elected AFTER voting for Rubio’s amnesty.

We MUST stop rewarding people who betray us.

Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake MUST be removed for voting for Rubio’s amnesty in 2018.

Alaska got rid of her once. She cheated her way back in with a write-in campaign.

Murkowsky was reelected last Nov. Having cheated to take over the seat from her father in the first place should have kept her from winning another term, but apparently Alaskans are really that clueless....or there was another crooked vote count.

Alaska tried to do better. She actually lost the last GOP primary up there, then went on to run as an independent and won.

I mean no offense to the "decent" folks of Alaska, but honestly, there are some really stupid people up there.

Good. She needs to be slammed, and never allowed into office again.

Maine is hopeless. Old money up here. Closed club. Although there is some chatter that LePage will run for senate. He says he's getting more urging for that, than he got to run for governor.

Murkowski’s holding out for the big bucks ONLY Alaska stands to gain by not voting for this.
She has nothing to loose.

Good for President Trump. The GOPe put Murkowski in power. Someone else won the primary and the GOPe ran her anyways. She is a RINO.

She won as an independent when the Eskimos were allowed to take a piece of paper with her name written on it into the voting booth to get her name right.

Did Murkowski ever vote for repeal during the past seven years?

As I recall that Alaska election, Murkowski won with significant democrat votes. She owes the democrats and votes accordingly.

Alaskans love that $1000 check every year simply for being a resident of state. When people get any free money, they do not want the boat rocked. They keep voting for the (liberal) incumbent.

Definition of a liberal politician: They love to spend OTHER people’s money, but are stingy to spend their own.
