Well, on the one hand, the Russia thing is clearly a “witch hunt” against Trump. Democrats can organize witch hunts. That’s fine. Unfairly victimizing Republicans is all part of the Washington game.
But if Trump (or Sessions) were to move against Hillary, the media would characterize that as a “witch hunt” and it would not be OK. We don’t do that sort of thing in this country. It’s un-American, you see.
But there has been a lot of investigating over the past few months. I think a lot of stuff has been turned up. Ostensibly, they’re looking to tie Trump to Russia. But it wouldn’t be hard to find a lot of stuff related the DNC and Hillary and Comey.
And then, you know, when all the cards are laid on the table, it’s not like it’s a witch hunt, you know, it’s just ... hey, look what we found.
Personally, I think we may be looking at the greatest bit of political maneuvering in the history of politics.
Grab the low hanging fruit first, get them to talk. The top bananas are going to be difficult to corner.
Media outlets of all type (radio, TV and print) and ideological stripe are nevertheless unified in their condemnation of Trump’s tweets.
Strip away the bluster and the sneering and the truth becomes obvious: Trump’s tweets completely obviate them.
A tweet takes 20 seconds to send yet the press would have us believe Trump has barricaded himself in an inner sanctum with only his phone for company.
As you say, these statements are brief and intermittent but are portrayed - in a classic case of projection - as a round-the-clock campaign.
Cable news long ago abandoned its remit. The usual fires, floods and earthquakes barely elicit a mention. There can be nothing less illuminating than a gaggle of swamp creatures sat round a table reinforcing groupthink yet that is exactly what is served up.
Imagine the eye-crossing boredom that would quickly result from ESPN et al discussing a Super Bowl that will never be played. That is what the political media, with their Super Bowl 3.5 long years away, have devolved into.
Piss or get off the DOJ pot, poodle boy.
This can still be turned around, If anything, Donald Trump is also a master showman, putting his proteges through a really severe test, and if they withstand the apparent assault, then goes on to back them up fully and with no reservations.
Firing Sessions, and building a fire beneath him, are two entirely different things. Once AG Sessions is set on a course of pursuing enemies domestic and foreign, which seems to have the point of all this hectoring by Trump, then a whole new dimension of this 3-D chess begins to unfold.
That sucking sound from Washington, DC, is the drain being opened in the Swamp.
I’ve always liked Jeff Sessions, although he’s not the most articulate man I’ve ever heard and he seems far more concerned with his reputation than anything. I think he was way too quick to recuse himself, especially given that his decision was based almost entirely on one question from that idiot Al Franken.
A person who actually has a pair would have stated succinctly that being one among a group of US senators attending a meeting with the Russian ambassador is far different than meeting with the Russian ambassador as a representative of the Trump campaign. Furthermore, someone who knew when and how to fight would have added, “I think it’s far more relevant that Senator McCaskill out-and-out lied when she stated that she had never met with the Russian ambassador when that is clearly not the case.”
I also question why nothing is coming out of the Justice Dept. regarding investigations of leaks, Comey’s release of privileged (classified?) information to the NYT, etc. Why is the Justice Dept. not investigating Rusatom, contributions to the Clinton Foundation, Bill Clinton’s speaking fees and Hillary’s decision to make 20% of US supplies of uranium available to Russia? For that matter, why isn’t the Justice Dept. investigating the Clinton email situation? Comey’s pronouncement SHOULDN’T have any influence whatsoever on an investigation and potential prosecution.
Bottom line: I don’t see any inclination on Sessions’ part to defend the administration and/or investigate and prosecute those who are perpetuating this B.S. Russian myth. He could begin by tying together the pieces of evidence around Imran Awan, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the DNC and its servers, but no one - including Sessions and the DOJ - seems the least bit interested.

Honor among men in government, like rank among lieutenants, is akin to virtue among whores.
Sessions’ so-called “honor” amounts to protecting his reputation above all other things, but it is not honorable to curl up in a ball and hide when you’re wrongly accused of something. It’s cowardly.
It's a crock of misdirecting bovine ejecta...

...distracting the attention of the sheeple away from the organized criminal mischief perpetrated by the Clinton organization.
If they do it on their own, sure. Bu the witch hunt against the Trump campiagn is okay because Congress ginned up concern.
If Congress ginned up as much concern of Hillary's ADMITTED collusion with foreign governments, her ADMITTED provate server housing classsified information, Comey's ADMITTED leaking, and th elist goes on, then, by dinot of public pressure applied by Congress, the DoJ would appoint an SC or two, so that the public would be satisfied the right thing was being done.
Congress is enabling and encouraging the coup against Trump. Congress is one-sided in this battle. The bias is crytal clear, and Congress is getting a free pass for manipulating the people into distrust. Congress, doing the job that Russia couldn't.
‘On Tuesday, Republicans publicly rallied to Sessionss defense. Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah)’
The swamp has Session’s back.
I think you are right.
By setting a rumor about divisions between Trump and Sessions was a setup. Now when Jeff Sessions lays into the PIAPS and demonratic or media officials they have quotes from the last week about how upright and honorable Jeff Sessions is.
I could be wrong. But I hope I’m not
Don't fall for every connection the press makes in the public's mind. I won't say that take is like buying global warming, but the facts don't support the connection between alleged lying to Franken and recusing. The events occurred one after the other, but "cause and effect" is not there, execpt by "leap to the conclusion." There is plenty of evidence to support the truth, and NONE to support the public narrative.
See especially Jeff Sessions' opening statement of June 13, 2017.
Just saw that on FOX. A very wise and practical decision, but liberals won’t see it that way.
IF TRUMP had wanted Sessions gone he would have fired him already or “allowed him to resign.” Trump is not approaching this as a politician but as a businessman, a manager who has a talented employee with loads of potential who for some reason is not performing up to expectations. The employee is being urged to get himself in gear and there are signs that he has reached for the gear shift.
Faux News from one of the Faux Newspapers, I suspect.
I see the OODA Loop well applied!
Maybe Trump is faux sacrificing a pawn to make it look possible for the other side to get its piece kinged.
