The Kingdom of Jordan is demanding Israel handover the Israeli embassy official who was wounded in Sunday evenings terror attack in Amman, and has barred his return to Israel.
On Sunday, the Israeli embassy in Ammans deputy security officer was stabbed at his residence in the embassy compound by a Jordanian man who had been brought to move furniture.
After he was stabbed, the security officer opened fire, killing the terrorist.
A second Jordanian citizen, who was described in various media reports as being either a doctor employed at the embassy or the owner of the residence, was also killed during the attack.
Following the attack, Jordanian officials have demanded Israel turnover the security officer for interrogation despite his diplomatic immunity.
Israel has thus far refused to comply with Jordans demand. In response, the Jordanian government has barred the officer from leaving Jordan until their demands are met.

Tell Jordan they can have back all those they kicked out and became “Palestinians”.
Bizarre turning of events afoot, it seems. All things considered Jordan is usually diplomatically hallal. With all the recent moves (Too many to list but... starting with PA asking Israel to turn of Gaza power to thwart Hamas+Dahlan warming, Egypt turning Gaza power back on to foster Hamas+Dahaln+Egyptian alliance against Abbas, Gulf states turning on Qatar, Egypt opening Gaza crossing, Hamas letting Egypt fortify border, Hamas and Dahlan warming up, Dahlan challenging Abbas for loyalty in the camps, Abbas giving the finger to Trump’s initiative and calling for “rage”, increase in terror attacks in Jerusalem etc etc) maybe we are seeing some new alignmnents.
Off the top of my head, Jordan flexing a little muscle just because Turkey has been trying to; or, Jordan deciding to back Abbas as Dahlan slowly gains power while Abbas weakens quickly. Runner up: jockeying for position in case US and Russia come to some alliance over Syria for which Jordan will bear a lot of the brunt eg. refugees.
As usual, Jordan ends up playing second fiddle (and sucker to) Egypt. Could be more of that too.
Oh and how could I forget, the “coup” in Saudi Arabia!
2 Jordanians stab Israeli diplomat or guard with screwdriver.
Israeli shoots 2 Jordanians dead, defending himself.
Jordan won't let Israeli leave embassy?
This reminds me of another current story:
3 PLOers stab and kill 2 Israeli policemen on the Temple Mount.
Israelis place metal detectors at Temple Mount entrances.
Paleostinains riot.
Do we see a pattern here?
Arabs kill...Jew defends lives...Arabs outraged.
If the circumstances were reversed and a Jordanian guard killed two Israelis, would Israel allow the shooter to leave without an interrogation?
I bet he’s slipped out of the country after being interviewed in front of Israeli representatives on embassy grounds.
Visualize a Jew being interrogated by Muslims.
He doesn’t have to interrogated alone. Surely Israel can negotiate the parameters of the questioning to include and Israeli representative present at the time of questioning.
Israel can also negotiate the location of the questioning ... say at the Israeli embassy so custody of the guard is not relinquished.
There are ways to handle this without it becoming a precursor to an international crisis.
Technically as the Embassy is Israel - he wasn’t in Jordan to begin with.
Then how is Jordan able to prevent the guard from leaving ... if the guard is already in Israel?
I suspect the King of Jordan is in a dicey political position and feels he must appease certain political elements or have a situation that might escalate into civil unrest. The king, unlike many of his subjects, is a stable, rational man. Expect a lot of Kabuki theater and then, not much of anything as this story becomes overlaid with later events.
Incidentally, life in Jordan is a lot more stable and prosperous because of Israeli cooperation on water and trade. The king will not jeopardize that.
Your question assumes that Israeli citizens would do what the Jordanian murderers tried to do.....
My question assumes nothing.
Dress him as a woman and put him in a jet back to Israel
Israelis would get to question him, but in Israeli custody? No. No country would permit that. Same for Jordan. They should get to question him in presence of Israeli ambassador, and not in Jordanian custody.
Yeh, that’s gonna happen. Not!
If the Israeli is questioned at the Israeli Embassy, he is not in Jordanian custody ... he is on Israeli soil.
So what would be the problem with the Jordanians coming to the Embassy and interviewing the guard there?
They wanted to take him out of the embassy and question him, probably with a rubber hose and bright lights in his face.
Your screenname is appropriate, I’ll say that much.
