The Senate Judiciary Committee is subpoenaing the co-founder of the firm tied to a controversial opposition research dossier on President Trump to testify before the committee next week.
Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said the move came after Glenn Simpson, the co-founder of Fusion GPS, declined to speak before the committee on Wednesday.
"A subpoena has been issued to compel his attendance. Simpson’s attorney has asserted that his client will invoke his Fifth Amendment rights in response to the subpoena," the Senate leaders said in a statement.
Simpson had been listed as a witness for a public Judiciary Committee hearing scheduled for Wednesday regarding oversight of the Foreign Agents Registration Act and "attempts to influence U.S. elections."
But a spokesman for Grassley said earlier Friday that they had not heard from Simpson, who was not expected to agree to testify.
Donald Trump Jr. and Paul Manafort, Trump's former campaign manager, were also listed as witnesses for the hearing. They have also not confirmed they will testify.

Force him to come and plead the 5th on every question. This idea of letting these people off because they will plead the 5th is nonsense. Let them plead and let the American people make up their own minds as to why. Also, allowing Susan Rice to appear behind closed doors is also wrong.

You haven’t been watching pubbie congressmen in action. A rat pleads the fifth and our brave pubbie kicks the dirt cries “curses, foiled again”, then ends the investigation. Or maybe you’re putting your faith in Session’s phantom grand juries. Nothing will happen until Trump fires Sessions puts one or more fire and brimstone special councils on the swamp/Clinton/Obama axis.

No, you're a normal American that wants justice served. Unfortunately, the GOP are either controlled opposition or pantywaists (or both) and will do everything they can to avoid going after the DemocRats.
Exactly what I was thinking, and have been thinking for years.
How many of the republican investigations or hearings have resulted in any indictments or punishments?
Those hearings are just meant to appease republicans who want action against all of the wrongdoing by democrats, but, we always get no action or the conclusions are never heard of, and the issues are allowed to die, until it’s time to have more hearings to keep republicans from acting up.
It’s time to get answers. REAL ANSWERS!
So, what were the conclusions that republican investigators reached on the Benghazi “investigations”? Nope! Never heard from again, and Hillary and Obama and Rice and all the others got away with their crimes.
So, why even bother? Let’s just give them a slap on the writs, and tell them to never do it again, no matter what the case is about.
