There are thousands of lower level positions in the federal bureaucracy that don’t require senate confirmation.

Many of these positions are held by people Obama has parachuted into the bureaucracy.

Why not just fire them, replace them with Trump people and give the Trump people equivalent responsibility to more senior positions.

I'm not sure that this is the biggest problem the Trump administration is dealing with for many of these nominees. From what I've seen, the longest delays are in the process to complete background checks for some of these nominees -- which happens before the nomination goes to the Senate for confirmation.

Robert Wood Johnson, for example, the nominee to be U.S. ambassador to Great Britain, wasn't sent to the Senate for confirmation until several weeks ago -- after he was originally named by President Trump to this post all the way back in January. It took six months to get all of his paperwork in order -- probably because he's a very wealthy man with business interests all over the world (he's an heir to the Johnson & Johnson family fortune).

McConnell does not have the spine to pull a “Harry Reid” maneuver against the Dim’s obstruction, alter the rules and get the nominations moved forward, quickly. He NEEDS to resign.

and his seat isn’t up until 2020. I would gladly go live in KY for a short time to help oust him.

“If you think the Russia thing is real,....”

Obviously, I don’t think the Russia/Trump collusion is real. It never happened. There wasn’t any collusion between Trump and Russia, and the theory that Russia tried to influence our elections in favor of Trump is utter nonsense.

If the Russians had a strategic preference, it certainly would not be for Trump, a strong, pro-defense, America first capitalist, whose aggressive energy policy severely undercuts Russia’s strategic position in the world.

It’s the investigation that was real. It’s the MSM and DNC narrative that was real, and still is. It’s had a huge impact.

You are right to compare it to man-made climate change. It’s a fraud but it is very real as an issue because the perpetrators of the fraud have been extremely successful in creating the illusion that science and Acedemia are on their side.

All I’m saying is that these Democrat/MSM issues - Russian collusion, climate change, racism, homophobia, Roe V Wade, - they are total fiction but yet are still profoundly impactful.

I just listened to 10 democrats on CSpan arguing against the confirmation of John Bush to the 6th circuit court. They all testified passionately as to the “appalling” statements he’s made regarding each if these fraudulent issues.

All I’m saying is that these confirmations are hotly contested - all 48 Democrat (including 2 independent) senators vote against them and all it takes is 2 kooky republicans to jump ship in order to torpedo a confirmation.

Trump has enemies within the GOP and he can’t take these confirmations for granted.

Ok, I’ll have to go back and read the transcripts.

Meanwhile, while conceding that I may have my timeline wrong, I’ll stand by my underlying point that these confirmations are hotly contested - the democrats and Independants all vote against Trump’s nominees, and all it takes is 2 rogue RINOs to torpedo one.

Trump has enemies within the GOP and can’t take anything for granted. The general issue raised a number of times by Democrats was whether Sessions’ involvement with the campaign would present a conflict of interest with future cases that may come before him due to their political nature.

Even if the specific example was the potential prosecution of Hillary Clinton, the general principle of objectivity toward and or recusal from cases with an underlying political taint.

It can’t be denied that the Hillary Clinton email issue was politicized, when it was only Republicans that wanted to “lock her up”.

What I’m saying is that although the Russia/Trump scandal was yet to be invented at the time of Sessions’ confirmation, it too is 100% politicized and is exactly the kind of thing the Democrats were worried about with the Sessions’ confirmation.

Sessions indicated that he would recuse himself from issues regarding the campaign.

11 years, or one marathon round of recess appointments once recess begins.

The investigation isn’t real either. There is no underlying crime. Collusion is not a crime even if it happens.

The investigation is little more than a witch hunt and Democrat opposition research underwritten by the taxpayer.
