“Someone has something on him?”

Maybe yes and maybe no.

But I’m tired of (seemingly) everyone using this excuse for every Republican that sells us out.

These are big boys who knew full well what it meant to accept the job.

"Yes there are two sides, but one side has been proven over the years to be extremely unsavory, and worthy of discontinuance."

I will say this.. Generally, as a rule, I do trust the cops to a fairly well... But the politicians that they answer to are mostly lawyers and thereby a pack of thieving SOB's... So if there is anyway to keep them out of our pockets we should look into it....

MHO......

When I read the details on this, it didn't appear to be an expansion really. Instead it expands the Federal government's powers to take confiscated property from local police departments who have already taken it.

In theory, that could remove some of the incentive for local police departments to seize things from people.

Yup. In those jurisdictions where forfeiture stops going to the local cops, there is a lot less enthusiasm for it. If this kind of asset forfeiture has to exist, (after a criminal conviction and proof that the assets are truly 'tainted'), all revenue should go the state's general fund, not the local police. The immediate incentives for abuse are just to large otherwise.

I agree. I find it absurd and completely counter-intuitive to even contemplate seizure of assets without first having a conviction. I don't know how or when we began down that slippery slope, but it's obviously a dangerous concept.

In some cases however, things seems to err in the wrong direction. Sometimes convicted white collar criminals wind up keeping some assets while their victims remain penniless due to the perps' crimes.

Not long ago there was a dermatologist in FL who was convicted of lying to patients and putting them through cancer treatments when they didn't have skin cancer at all. He bilked Medicare for many millions. He (despite being convicted) got to keep his $28 million mansion.... and even kept his medical license. link

Absolutely. There are a lot of anti-Sessions people on FR now, and judging by the foul language, I'm suspicious. Freepers don't rely on dirty words to make a point. DID ANYONE NOTICE THAT SESSION'S DRUG BUSTS INVOLVED MUSLIM DOCTORS IN MICHIGAN?

Did anyone here, even the smartest, expect this fake news frenzy about Russia? We need new leadership in the house and senate.

Did you know that right now Graham is introducing the DREAM ACT? Right this minute! He should be going after Meuller. This is the problem, not Sessions.
