Explain the wonderful job the current War on Drugs is doing to protect the average citizen’s personal property rights?

Explain how great alcohol prohibition worked...

Explain how wonderful no knock raids are when they target the wrong house... and there is no redress against the government...

Explain how so great the civil asset forfeiture laws are working out if you happen to be an innocent citizen caught in their cross-hairs...

In my life the left has made pot legal and socially acceptable and even preferable.

And conversely made tobacco illegal.

This is the leftist agenda, make drugs legal and ubiquitous.

You are fighting for slavery of the left. Hardly for freedom.

If you want the entire country and world to be like San Francisco or Amsterdam, go for it.

Everywhere pot us legal and encouraged, it us the most repressive place for intellectual freedom and other basic freedoms.

Everywhere pot is legal, the PC police rule with no opposition and complete power.

It’s not a coincidence.

Well loyal regurgitation of New Left propaganda, now more than half a century old.

If I wanted to read it I could look at old High Times or other Yippie idiocy on internet archives.

[ “Conservative” Prohibitionists love to talk about “minimal government”—except, of course, when they decide to support the ever-expanding Police State which is necessary to enforce their pet nanny-state contraband law, asset forfeiture, no-knock warrants, trampling of the Fourth Amendment, loss of privacy, and so on.

Yep, how “conservative” and “small government”. ]

Damn Straight!

[ After all, Prohibition certainly made the alcohol problem better, right?

No Prohibitionist can legitimately call themselves a “small government conservative”. The terms are mutually exclusive. ]

Exactly!

[ And they can’t claim to be a supporter of Natural Rights either, because they don’t get to define others’ “pursuit of happiness”; they support authoritarian law, which criminalizes the mere possession of state-declared contraband, long before anyone’s rights have ever been infringed on.

It’s amazing to me how far down the road to Statism even so-called “conservatives” have gone, right along with their Leftist nanny-state brethren. ]

“Nanny state for thee but not for me” sort of crap-weasel mentality that turns social conservatives into nanny state enabling progressives.

[ The authoritarian Left and the authoritarian Right seem to be competing over whose version of Tyranny can most smoothly be shoved down the throats of Individuals.

No thanks. I’ll take big, scary Freedom—with all of its annoying challenges—over Authoritarian shortcuts any day of the week. ]

You either defend the freedom of your neighbor or you lose your own freedom, AMEN!

[Once a “conservative”—or a “liberal”, for that matter—compromises to tolerate Arbitrary Law, there is no power that the State cannot exercise in the Holy name of the Common Good. And such attitudes have nothing to do with true Liberty.

It’s no wonder that normal, decent people have been whipsawed back and forth for over a century by nanny-state do-gooders who apparently know what’s best not only for themselves, but for everyone else as well.

Somebody wake me up when We the People are truly willing to live in Freedom—warts and all... ]

Definitely Agree, however, I am all for a locality or state governments experimenting with regulations, much better to have one loony state government people can move away and more easily petition to change their policies, than be locked into a madness of a federal tyranny ran amok.

Good for you! Statists should be reminded that they are not conservatives and not Constitutionalists.

Map of Pot Laws:

There is no direct co-relation between totalitarian government and pot legalization.

In fact some of the most insanely totalitarian government like North Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Vietnam, Cuba, etc... Have made it illegal as hell.

And some of the more free countries in the west have it illegal as well.

Although one would think the most totalitarian regimes in the world would legalize it if it was such an "effective tool" of a dictator or communist style regime...

When “Social Conservatives” forfeit the Natural tools of NON-Governmental social pressure of the institutions of voluntary association like churches & other social groups in favor of using DIRECT STATE POWER AND CONTROL to enforce their agenda....

They become a threat to everyone’s freedom just as much as the Pink and Purple haired social Justice Warrior who wants to arrest someone for calling them the wrong pronoun.

The one hill we lost on was the LBJ tax code that neutered the Churches in the early 50’s to become puppets of the state which produced a chilling effect on the centers of our national morals. The churches dare not speak about the state lest they lose their Tex exemption...

Some societal functions cannot be dropped off with the federal government like dropping the kids off everyday at daycare without ending up with ill mannered brats, or in this case of society, societal breakdown.

Oh maybe you think the government should start locking up people you think are “certifiable” as well...

You know, for the “good of society”...

Gee, that reminds me of a certain country that used to imprison political dissidents by calling them mentally unfit... hmmm... lemme think... could it be... every single commie country that ever existed since communism existed...

You Sir, are a useful tool of the statists.

You’re absolutely right.

In the same vein, when we allow or, worse, expect the government to do the work of charities, and fleece everyone to fund the cause, it weakens and destroys the work of private charitable groups who can apply their efforts as they see fit. The more money the taxman takes the less people have to give and the less motivation there is to give with ideas out there like ‘Uncle Sam is taking care of that’ and ‘I already paid for that.’

That is a cancer on churches and local communities etc.

When you outsource the morals of a community to an uncaring government bureaucrat, you end up with a “DMV Society”, where it is always someone else’s problem under the excuse of “Well, I paid muh taxes”...

Well loyal regurgitation of New Left propaganda, now more than half a century old.

Don't know what you're referring to, thankfully.

There's no excuse for nanny-state Prohibitionists, regardless of the phony labels they like to slap onto those who repudiate it, in a desperate effort to avoid arguing the facts, and the realization that they don't actually believe in Liberty.

When someone infringes on someone else's rights, only then has a crime been committed.

It's funny how the Left and Right, both Old and New, unite in their embrace of Arbitrary Law.

You advocate for Tyranny. Whatever I may advocate for, it will never be for anything worse than that, for there is nothing worse than that—not even the animating contest of Freedom which you dismiss with your narrow-minded, snot-nosed Authoritarian shortcuts...

It seems like it is often the most vocal moralists who would prefer to slough off their own personal responsibilities onto the state. It’s such a tidy solution. When things go right “I supported that” when things go wrong “It’s not my fault, dang government screwed it up.”

In my life I’ve seen cannabis declared illegal as a political tool. I’ve seen the abject failure of the infamous War on Drugs. I’ve watched our nation tinkle all over the Constitution via the WOD & the only ones who’ve benefited are the criminals.

“You are fighting for slavery of the left.”

Another fallacy. I support the 10th amendment over the nanny-state you support.

“Everywhere pot is legal, the PC police rule with no opposition and complete power.”

Another fallacy. States like Florida, Arkansas, Georgia & West Virginia have medical marijuana programs. Not exactly states that are PC by any means & the GOP is in control of 2 or more houses of their respective legislatures & 3 of the 4 have Republican governors.

Yes, agree 10000%

government is supposed to be pyramid shaped in the amount of power vs. the size of it and how much of the shadow of it’s control is cast upon you.

The bottom of the pyramid is local government the capstone is the federal government, and the middle is the state government. Ideally the local government has the most say over your average everyday life, so 9 times out of 10 when you break a law it should theoretically be a local law, like a city ordinance, etc, then states and then rarely a federal law. The progressive era done took the pyramid and stood it on it’s head.... and when that sucker loses it’s balance and crashes down, a lot of people gonna be crushed...

I use the pyramid analogy to try to wake people to how government is supposed to work to how it is now, which is either an upside down pyramid or a cube depending on where you live of course...
