Are PBS and Ken Burns about to Rewrite History Again? (Viet Nam)

PBS is planning to run a new documentary series this September on the Vietnam War, produced and written by Ken Burns. Burns is a left-wing "historian" and documentary film producer with a history of having his politics shape the narrative of the story he is telling, with a number of resulting inaccuracies.

Ken Burns correctly identifies the Vietnam War as being the point at which our society split into two diametrically opposed camps. He is also correct in identifying a need for us to discuss this aspect of our history in a civil and reflective manner. The problem is that the radical political and cultural divisions of that war have created alternate perceptions of reality, if not alternate universes of discourse. The myths and propaganda of each side make rational discourse based on intellectual honesty and goodwill difficult or impossible. The smoothly impressive visual story Burns will undoubtedly deliver will likely increase that difficulty. He has done many popular works in the past, some of which have been seriously criticized for inaccuracies and significant omissions, but we welcome the chance of a balanced treatment of the full history of that conflict. We can only wait and watch closely when it goes public.

Of course, 90% of the “documentary” will focus on how unfair it was towards blacks.

And you can bet, Burns will blame Nixon more for Vietnam, than LBJ.

I got under some liberals skin once, by noting that LBJ was a Democrat. The war greatly escalated under LBJ. Liberals don’t like to hear inconvenient truths about what some of their own Democrats have done in history.

This punk made a bunch of rapists and attempted murderers millionaires. The "Central park 5". Burns made a fauxcumentary about them proclaiming their innocence and NYC Mayor and taxpayer funded anarchist Bill De Blasio saw it and got teary eyed and had the city hand over $44 million to those punks, and if that doesn't tick you off enough, now they are suing for an additional $50 million. I talked to the lead detective in that case, he said before they even got them to the station, they were admitting to it in the patrol car. Not only that, they also admitted it with their parents present and also were caught on a jailhouse phone bragging about it. Yo! Now they living large boyeeeee! Tanks Mistuh Burns!

Lest we forget it was the Democrats holy figure St. John of Kennedy who first sent advisers to Vietnam in the early sixties. Leftist historians are running with the narrative that if JFK had lived we would of gotten out of Vietnam. All speculation on their part, but this was a war started by a Democrat president.

“”Burns is a left-wing “historian” and documentary film producer with a history of having his politics shape the narrative of the story he is telling, with a number of resulting inaccuracies.””

Also known as the propaganda of history.

John kerry liked to call Veterans Baby killers and war criminals then go to Paris to collude with the North Vietnamese. Tet was the biggest Victory of the Military since WWII but Cronkite lamented all was lost, guess he was a communist. Then to top it off the demonicrats voted to defund the war and blamed Veterans for everything.

November 1, 1955 — President Eisenhower deploys the Military Assistance Advisory Group to train the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. This marks the official beginning of American involvement in the war as recognized by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

July 8, 1959 — Charles Ovnand and Dale R. Buis become the first two American Advisers to die in Vietnam.

Sorry, but it started with Ike. And I am a great admirer of Eisenhower.

I would say rather its the event on which the left and so-called progressive movement demonstrated it had infiltrated and taken over all the major institutions of American governance and society.

I wonder if they will mention the brutality of Communism and the fact that the MSM of the time and the Leftist peace loving hippies of the time tried to cover up this fact.

Right or wrong, we have a very valid reason for being very concerned about Communist China and the USSR and their puppets. We now have proof of the brutality of the Communist regimes. Yet, people still idolize these viscous dictators.

Ya. They didn’t like him very much at the time, either.

Did you know that Kennedy was involved early on too?

Yes it was a war started and escalated by Democrats, and was a war of choice.

Remember how the liberals always criticized Bush for “wars of choice”??? Well, Vietnam was a war of choice and we got into it because of Democrats. Sometimes inconvenient truths are hard for the liberals to swallow.

I thought his work on the Civil War and Baseball were both stellar.

The pinnacle of historical documentary.

In spite of the fact he’s a commie, through and through.
