The Heritage of Natural Law: Mark Levin on Rediscovering Americanism
National Review ^ | July 15, 2017 | Andrew C. McCarthy

Posted on 07/15/2017 12:38:47 PM PDT by EveningStar

Is there an enduring American character?

For those who view our nation as at a tipping point, the question is urgent. Others scoff, “Why?” After all, if the American character is truly enduring, it will endure — the ship eventually will right itself to the extent it is off course. And if not, history will inevitably evolve it into something better, right?

My friend Mark Levin would counter that this is the wrong way to look at it. The foundation of Americanism, he posits, is natural law. That does not just spontaneously appear, nor passively persevere. Understanding our natural-law roots, reaffirming our attachment to them in the teeth of the progressive project to supersede them — this is hard work.

>i>As Levin reads Locke, “the fact that every person has the ability to reason and discover natural law . . . does not mean that all people will do so.”

libtards have a disintegrated mode of thought and will not use reason or be oriented to reality

Anybody else getting a sense of a disconnect with this article appearing in NR and being written by a Bush flunky? Am I overthinking this? Where’s the evidence that McCarthy was an advocate for natural law thinking during the Bush years if he has such a deep understanding and places such a high value on it? Does this only come about when they go to think tanks to write articles?

Once Mark Levin discovered NeverTrumpism I stopped being interested in anything he had to say.

Oh yeah?

Well Mark Levin says you and all your “enforce the borders” pals are anti-semites. He and Glenn Beck will cheeto you.

Let's commend Mark Levin's work to each and every citizen in own circle.

Back during the 1987 Bicentennial of the United States Constitution, Our Ageless Constitution, a 290-page volume, was published (Stedman & Lewis). A later condensed volume of the same work was entitled, Rediscovering the Ideas of Liberty.

Many of the essays outlining and discussing those "ideas of liberty" are available for download online here.

Restoration of those ideas to the minds of Americans today, coupled with a dedicated commitment to them by all who seek liberty and freedom, are essential if the American Republic is to survive for future generations.

I hear you. I felt the same way but Levin has been outstanding outing the illegal activities (reverse targeting) of intelligence agencies and giving unique insight into the role of DOJ.
I am back listening regularly because he is a fighter and hates the MSM.

Me, too. He is a staunch defender of President Trump against the ‘silent coup’.

Levine is a big dummy. He proved it during the primaries, why should we believe he's any smarter now than before? He only tolerates President Trump now because it's good for (his) business. This elitist, GLOBALIST, fake will abandon and attack President Trump if it is ever fiscally advantageous for him to do so.

I trust a Constitutionalist like Publius Huldah (News With Views) more than I trust a Neoconservative like Mark Levin on this Liberty Amendments Trojan Horse.

Levin has been on fire defending Trump from baseless attacks by the left. I only started listening to him during the campaign and he was often annoying then, Now annoying is the exception.

One is only naturally a US citizen when there is no alternative, born here of citizen parents.
Foreign national parents and foreign births bring other citizenships and divided loyalties.

Until Levin figures out that Cubanadians are not eligible to be President, he’s not worth listening to if he doesn’t know what natural born citizen means. It is one of the most important safeguards written into the Constitution.

Barack Hussein Obama should be proof enough for anyone that the founders were correct to exclude children of foreign nationals.

So Mark Levin and The National Review are all of the sudden discovering Natural Law? A day late and a dollar short. These are the same traitors that rejected Natural Law when the question of Obama’s eligibility for president was on the table.... despite the United States Supreme Court defining natural born Citizen using the Natural Law definition at least 5 times. Yet these treasonous scumbags seem to still have a following here at freerepublic. Pathetic.

My feelings exactly.

Levin.....Someone who cries fake tears over the Constitution but ignores Obama and Cruz’s eligibility.

I read Levin’s new book “Rediscovering Americanism...”. It’s a tough read in spots, but is worth the effort. While Levin was (maddingly) a never-Trumper, what he has to say in this work is spot on, and what he writes here really needs to be understood by patriots to properly navigate the stormy seas on which the American ship of state is currently tossing.
