The Latest on a judge’s decision on President Donald Trump’s travel ban (all times local):

3:50 p.m.

The Trump administration is asking the Supreme Court for greater freedom in limiting visitors to the United States from six mostly Muslim countries and refugees from around the world.

The Justice Department filed an emergency appeal with the high court late Friday that seeks to undo a Hawaii judge’s ruling from a day earlier. That ruling diluted President Donald Trump’s restrictions on refugees and visitors from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Good! I hope the SCOTUS will make the right decision quickly.

That judge needs to be impeached. He cares for neither the law nor the Constitution nor the safety of the country.

In a sane world he would be asking Congress....though they hare already said yes.

quick -send flyers to Japan, who’ll be glad to complete their repopulation of Hawaii - come one, come all! - before China gets there first.

Rogue Judges need to be removed. This one knows he is wrong. It’s just Trump hate. But, Alcee Hastings was impeached and convicted and immediately removed and elected as a Congressman from Florida. It was a resume enhancer for that liberal.

I don’t know if this judge knows he’s wrong so much as he believes he’s doing the right thing to resist Trump. He probably sleeps very well at night as he literally rends our legal system. As another FReeper noted and I wrote many times, a whole lot of judges need impeaching. Sadly, our Republican representatives and senators are absolutely complicit in all of this! They COULD reign in the courts, but I honestly believe they mostly LOVE what these rogue judges do.

Let’s keep it simple...If you come to the USA and follow islam, you GTFO immediately or be executed.

America and the USA is a nation guided by the rule of law.

If you have some religious or pious BS to some make-believe entity that rubs against our Constitution, then GTFO.

In fact, just never come here you filthy horny disgusting scum.

Definitely. There is no doubt in my mind that he’s getting plenty of congratulations for resisting Trump, but he’s basically a judicial barbarian (my term). Too many judges these days get away with it, and as I noted, our elected representatives are complicit, because they want the same outcomes but are afraid to go on record. The judges are doing the dirty work, and American citizens have no recourse. We hold elections and NOTHING changes.

Yes, they have no one calling them out on what is basically malpractice.
A lot of damage will still be done in the future thanks to Obama’s judicial reform agenda.
Trump need to keep an aggressive schedule with his judicial picks, even if he knows the confirmation will drag.

This will do, but I’d prefer Trump have a press conference and say that this judge has overstepped his authority and the unlawful, politically motivated directive will not be adhered to by Homeland Security.

Sure, and then what? Another liberal activist judge will shoot Trump down again. And then he's forced to beg the Supreme Court yet again, to grant him the permission to do the job that standing Law and the Constitution have already given him complete authority to do.

At some point he's got to exert his legal authority, and slap these treasonous bastards down himself.

I think Trump should continue to let this work itself out in the courts, but he definitely needs to press for Congress to reform the judicial system so that these rogue justices are cut off. We must not allow judicial barbarians, like U.S. District Court Judge Derrick Watson, to reinterpret the laws any way they want so as to tie up a President of the United States.

It’s literally impossible to write laws to restrain people who believe ideology trumps everything else. They will always find new interpretations that twist the law, but let’s not forget the US Supreme Court is engaged in the same practice. Chief Justice Roberts and his Obamacare nonsense is a case in point.

Congress has the power under the Constitution to define the issues lower courts can address. Congress can restrict federal district courts from addressing immigration and naturalization issues.

Congress can also impeach judges. Perhaps this judge should be impeached and convicted for failing to uphold the rule of law. All it will take is to throw one or two rogue justices off the bench. Once the example has been shown, the others will tow the line. It is only human nature to run wild when there are no consequences.

Huh? Congress granted the President complete plenary power over all matters relating to immigration in 1952.

He doesn't need anyone's permission to restrict immigration, and no one has the legal or constitutional authority to stand in the way of his decisions in that area.

Windflier: “At some point he’s got to exert his legal authority, and slap these treasonous bastards down himself.”

At some point Congress needs to exert their legal authority and slap these rogue judges down. The fix must come from Congress. This district court judge is probably getting a real kick out of the way he’s thwarted the will of tens of millions of Americans who support Trump.

It’s not like we don’t know the game that’s being played. The left upholds the letter of the law only when it serves their purposes. If they don’t win elections, they run to the courts. If they don’t win in the courts, they run to the streets. All they care about is getting their way, and they are willing to ruin civil society in the process.

Would any of us sit down to play a game of Monopoly against someone who changes the rules as they go or simply takes whatever they want from the bank? No, but that’s the situation in America today. They’ve stacked the proverbial deck.

However, the political left should be warned that once the rest of America wakes up and realizes how badly the game is rigged, they’ll stop playing.

“It is only human nature to run wild when there are no consequences.”

Bears repeating. This district judge does this because he can. He’s practically begging to be impeached.

So why do you want Trump to continue litigating this through the courts? You're literally asking him to go on a never ending wild goose chase.

Trump shouldn’t give the uniparty any reason to impeach him.

Obama’s EOs, DACA and DACA, were both illegal. The Democrats didn’t care for federal immigration law so he tried to ignore it by executive fiat.
He should have been impeached but the GOP did nothing. This ‘rat judge is doing the same thing and the majority party, many of them lawyers, will again do nothing.
