Charlie Gard's parents storm out of courtroom as they await boy's fate

LONDON – It was a rollercoaster day for the parents of Charlie Gard.

Chris Gard and Connie Yates, the parents of the 11-month-old boy suffering from a rare and almost always terminal genetic disorder, walked out of a British courtroom Thursday morning after arguing with the judge, but returned later in the day.

Charlie’s parents appeared anxious when they arrived at the Royal Courts of Justice for a hearing that may prove to be their last chance to convince the judge to allow them to take their boy out of the U.K. for experimental treatment. The family believes experimental treatment available in the U.S. and Italy for mitochondrial depletion syndrome has a 10 percent chance of improving his quality of life and reducing the brain damage the illness has already inflicted on the boy.

Nice of Fox to characterize the parents in a negative way.

I truly don’t see how the two parents keep going in this grind, day in, day out. Maybe there’s a lot we don’t see, don’t even have to see. I hope so.

If this was my wife, I would have to think; when is the last time we relaxed, the last time we had any fun? Can we still have ‘Date-Nights’? When did I last see her laughing? When did she last hug me without her fingers made wet with tears of sorrow? Maybe, privately, they do find time and opportunity to let it go for just a few hours. Some people may not allow themselves any joy or mirth during such a state of limbo.

This is horrible....let them have their son, oh wait not their son property of the king. Wanna bet the ones ruling on this have Cadillac healthcare? Not the same as the peasants are forced to have.

See, that's a problem.

They are not asking for the government to pay. They raised plenty of money and will pay for his treatments. They just want the hospital to release their son with the necessary breathing equipment to make the journey to the USA.

Let my baby go. Maybe a few Biblical plagues are in order upon the stubborn tyrants.

I’ve had a number of occasions to interact with the parents of murdered children. In my opinion just as a lay observer, none of them ever came anywhere near to ‘recovery’. I don’t think it is possible. Any death leaves its scar, and a void, but time passes and we become used to it and pretty much return to our normal selves. Not once have I seen anything like that with the parents of murdered children. Every morning the wound reopens and continues to bleed. This child is being bureaucratically murdered. If Britain sees this homicide through to its end, I hope that we step back and reevaluate our relationship with Britain.

I have questioned the continued, intimate association with most European nations for some time now. Most of them have become so culturally and ideologically perverse, that I think it is necessary for our own health to draw back from them. This case is but one example.

It might be better to see our efforts going into developing relationships with countries we typically overlook in Asia, and South and Central America, than continue to be shackled to the intellectual and cultural rot found in most of the West.

Thanks for your answer. These are questions I would never dare ask anyone actually in that situation unless I knew them quite well. You have been in their presence.
I tend to agree about our presumed relationship with certain euro-cultures. It used to be that societies like Sweden, Norway and Denmark were held up to be the top standard of living, something we lesser countries should all aspire to.
Now look where they’re headed after the invasion of ‘rape-fugees’.

I read the BBC story earlier today and the judge said they had his permission to leave at any time they saw fit and allow their attorneys to continue to argue before him.

These are the kid’s parents? Not guardians or foster parents? Hop on a boat or plane, and salute the judge with one finger on your way to your berth.

Go to any U.K. News site and read the comments, the majority of the comments advocate Charlie Gard’s death and read like prayers, ending: “Let the poor lad go.” “God Bless him.”,...etc. it’s sick!

They have National Soialism. They won’t let a citizen out alive if the precedent MIGHT hurt that belief system.

This is the majority stance even on what would be more right opinion friendly sites like U.K. Daily Mail. (Yes, I know they tamper with the comments.)

It’s godless culture, advocating evil and invoking God.

For the first time, I really think their maybe no hope for Britain.

You don’t get it. They can’t do that. The government has possession of their child. (Not least of which, the child is not in condition to travel by normal means)

The hospital has said that "a world where only parents speak and decide for children and where children have no separate identity or rights and no court to hear and protect them is far from the world in which treats its child patients.

But it's perfectly OK if the parents decide to kill their little preborn baby.

Both our countries are infected by a culture of death.

Before anyone starts drawing back in horror from the UK, remember how Terry Schiavo was starved to death in the full light of public scrutiny.

All She needed was food.

Also: both of our countries murder children at levels unthinkable even to Herod. A hundred children a week die in a clinic a mile from where I’m sitting. The US has these abortoirs too.

Let’s open our eyes a tiny crack here.

“Let’s open our eyes a tiny crack here.”

Yes, let’s.

Terry Schiavo’s murderous next of kin withheld her care.

With Charlie Gard the State is preventing the next of kin from getting care for their child.

BTW I am no apologist for US culture. I’m waiting for that rod of iron to land on our culture and government at any time. But the rot in UKistan is worse, and we are degraded by our association with them. I will agree that secular Western civilization is degenerate, murderous and corrupt.
