Gaza 'unliveable' ten years after Hamas seized power: U.N.

A decade after the Islamist group Hamas seized Gaza, the Palestinian enclave is effectively unliveable for its 2 million people, with declining incomes, healthcare, education, electricity and fresh water, the United Nations said.

In a report examining humanitarian conditions in the territory, which Hamas took over in June 2007 after a brief conflict with forces loyal to the Palestinian Authority, the United Nations concludes the situation in Gaza is deteriorating "further and faster" than was forecast only a few years ago.

"Across the board we're watching de-development in slow motion," Robert Piper, the UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Aid and Development Activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday.

"Every indicator, from energy to water to healthcare to employment to poverty to food insecurity, every indicator is declining. Gazans have been going through this slow motion de-development now for a decade."

"I see this extraordinarily inhuman and unjust process of strangling gradually two million civilians in Gaza that really pose a threat to nobody," said Piper.

Asked who was doing the strangling, he replied:

"Everyone's having a go," mentioning internal Palestinian political strife, Israeli security policies that leave Gazans caught in the middle, and regional dynamics including pressure on Qatar, a major donor to Hamas, from Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

But those 2 million people are alive. So it’s not literally “unliveable”.

Yes. I get their meaning, that muzzie leadership leads to hellish conditions. We could have told them that would happen.

But I am just commenting on the illogical construction of their language... unless they mean that all 2 million people are days away from actual death.

Hamas has spent all the foreign aid received on tunnels and war preparations instead of anything that would benefit their people.

Yup. Those damn Jews just won't stop defending themselves against the Hamas murderers. What's the world to do?

Israeli security policies that leave Gazans caught in the middle..

And we know what caused that.

Suicide bombers sent by HAMAS.

The process is called reversion

The Gaza Strip is reverting to Islam of old.

Running water, a functioning sewer system, electricity, hospitals.....not required. Civilization beyond the rule of an Emir and Sheikh are all that is required

[[”I see this extraordinarily inhuman and unjust process of strangling gradually two million civilians in Gaza that really pose a threat to nobody,” said Piper. ]]

The people of Gaza voted for Hamas .
They got the government they wanted.

How many millions have been poured into Gaza ?
They don’t do anything with it but spend their time plotting on how they are going to kill Israelis , dig tunnels and build bombs that’s it. The insane world keeps sending money and expects a different result .

The Israelis left them an industry when they pulled.
What did the people of Gaza do with it ?
They destroyed it and used the parts to build more bombs.

Stop funding it.

I noticed that too. I guess the author wants Israel to open the Gaza-Israeli border, while at the same time giving Hamas all sorts of free stuff (electrical power, food, etc.).

The hypocrites at the UN?

A great amount of the responsibility for the failure of GAZA belongs to the UN itself for its pro-Palestinian anti-Israel positions over that period.

Send them to Germany. Merkel loves muslims and hates western white males.

Lemme guess — it is Israel’s fault.

Put a bunch of them in Merkel’s home. Oh, I forgot... lib do-gooders don’t accept “refugees” on their own property. That’s what the little people are for, to eat the sh*t of muzzie immigrants.

As I recall, when Israel turned over Gaza to them it left an advanced infrastructure which would have helped provide water, utilities and food yet the first thing the muzzies did was to destroy all of it.

instead of anything that would benefit their people.

These people produce nothing but chaos. Now, they are living in that chaos all by themselves and are looking around for someone else to blame.

It is Islam, that is the problem. The religion IS the problem. Now, unfortuantely, I am not supposed to even think that, let alone type it out. But, it is the truth. Who would want to put a business into that hell hole? No one. They need to re-think the way they do things; but, they won't. So, 5, 10 years from now, the same story will be written.

I'm shocked. SHOCKED! If these people were given Geneva, they'd turn it into a sewer in two years.

One of the first things the muslims did, after Gaza was given to them, was to smash all of the productive greenhouses that the Jews had established for growing vegetables. Now the muslims in Gaza are hungry? Say it isn’t so!
