It is easy to spend other people's money and to scoff at the law when you are in charge of the County government.

Good on them.

Time for more places to follow suit.

I would love to see a restaurant owner advertise with a sign in his front window that CCW permit holders were welcome in his establishment.

Lousy reporting and writing. Was she being denied her right to carry? I can see a lawsuit over being denied the right to carry. But I don’t see a lawsuit to remove metal detectors. Is there a law in MI disallowing metal detectors?

If I worked for the gobermint I would carry AND support security screening.

“Deldin acknowledged that government functions operated in the renovated, former bank building do not fit the definition under state law as a weapons-free zone. They expected weapons-free designation could be successfully challenged in court.

“We felt when we put it in, even though we knew it was not protected by law, let’s err on the side of caution for employees and by the public that use that building,” Deldin said.”

Ammo Land just adds a bunch of extraneous stuff. This isn’t about metal detectors and guards. Thought the writer never says it I an guessing she didn’t sue to have them removed but sued because she was being denied her right to carry.

She won but I am also guessing that the metal detector and guards could have stayed.

If you’re not allowed to exclude certain metal objects which go bang, what purpose do metal detectors serve? To regulate...spoons?

If the courthouse is not allowed to exclude weapons, it has no need to spend one taxpayer’s dime to detect them.

I got busted at the Macomb County courthouse for a pocket knife. Went back to my car, came through metal detector and they found the other knife. Third trip, third knife (Keychain and legitimately forgot about. Funny thing was, I was going there to pick up my CCW.

The county building has had illegal searches for years. I was there for a meeting once and was told they couldn’t even have kitchen knives. I asked how they cut their bagels. They order pre-cut.

Of course, now I live in MD, where citizens have no CCW rights.

Lousy reporting and writing.

Par for the course with the Macomb Daily. It's poorly written leftwing fishwrap at it's best. I can't believe it's still in print.

we have a new law coming up here in Ohio that takes the force of law away from the no weapons allowed signs. If you are caught with a gun, you can be asked to leave. If you don’t leave, they must comply under threat of a fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespass charge but the gun is concealed so...

Maybe you haven’t been to courthouse recently but whether I am carrying or not I would still like to know if and what others are carrying. I may be going way out on a limb but at least half of the people entering a courthouse may have had their carry rights revoked and that is somethig worth screening for.

“Carry rights revoked “ is a Constitutional impossibility.

You think you have an unlimited right to carry?

“Infringed” by whom? I can infringe upon your right and so can many other people.

1. Governments cannot

2. This is a government facility (courthouse)

3. Strawmen burn in the light of truth.

It’s a State government building. Where you referring to Michigan’s Constitution? Sounded like the US Constituitin which regulates the federal government. Doesn’t matter infringement occurs doesn’t it? It is just a matter of who is allowed to infringe.

Passing through a metal detector is not infringement. Taking away your weapon is.

“I would love to see a restaurant owner advertise with a sign in his front window that CCW permit holders were welcome in his establishment.”

A sign offering CCW permit holders a 10% discount would enrage the spineless left and provide hours of entertainment .

You are pro-(some)-gun control and unworthy of my further attention.
