Chemotherapy may spread cancer and trigger more aggressive tumours, warn scientists
Telegraph ^ | July 5, 2017 | Sarah Knapton

Chemotherapy could allow cancer to spread, and trigger more aggressive tumours, a new study suggests.

Researchers in the US studied the impact of drugs on patients with breast cancer and found medication increases the chance of cancer cells migrating to other parts of the body, where they are almost always lethal.

Around 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Britain every year and 11,000 will die from their illness.

Many are given chemotherapy before surgery, but the new research suggests that, although it shrinks tumours in the short term, it could trigger the spread of cancer cells around the body.

It is thought the toxic medication switches on a repair mechanism in the body which ultimately allows tumours to grow back stronger. It also increases the number of ‘doorways’ on blood vessels which allow cancer to spread throughout the body.

I totally believe this. I think my sister-in-law might still be here had she not had chemo.

Junk science. They want death panels. No more chemo for you. For your own good.

I hope people don't take this article at face value, without consulting with their doctors. This article is specific to breast cancer, and does not mention the specific compounds used in the chemotherapy.

My wife has received many chemo sessions for years now, to combat cancer. To date, it has been successful and she is in remission. Not all chemotherapy is the same. At times, she has had five different chemo medicines mixed together in her chemo treatments. Some are administered separately from the mix by injection. Some will cause hair loss, most will not. So, as I said, best to discuss any fears with your doctor overseeing your treatments rather than get spooked by this article. My wife's treatments have saved her life; she would have died without them.

No s**t Sherlock, the ingredients of chemotherapy are often known carcinogenics . Intersperse that with exposure to radiation and what would you think would happen besides you collecting a hundred grand for “treatment schedules”?

More loke death panels, you get chemotherapy, you have insurance and money for the max deductible.

Good thing for the insurance industry that the lobbyists got the deductible so high. The pills cost a penny to make and the radiation machine costs almost nothing to run.

It’s all profit to them.

You, loose.

first of all, the article does not tell what % of people this happens to- secondly, chemo does not stop all cancers from coming back- but it does help a great many people prevent it from doing so- third we don’t know what stage the cancers were at that came back later- forth the article lists 55,000- then states that 11,000 die- again not telling us what stages of cancer the 11,000 were in- the article later mentions 20 patients where ‘doorways were opened’- Yeah? Out of how many patients? and again, what stage was their cancer in when doorways were supposedly opened?

“He also discovered that in mice with breast cancer chemotherapy increased the number of cancer cells circulating the body and in the lungs.”

Sigh- how many mice got it? how many mice were studied? What % did it happen to? what stages were they in?

poorly written article

Give your wife 10,000 units of vitamin D3 daily for 30 days then drop back to 5,000 and a teaspoon of cold pressed flax seed oil daily also.

UK double blind medical study with 2000 breast cancer patients saw 50 percent spontaneous remission rates at that dose of flax seed oil.

Cost you a hundred bucks.

[[This article is specific to breast cancer, and does not mention the specific compounds used in the chemotherapy.]]

Exactly! This article was very poorly written- no mention of what type of chemo- no mention of percentages etc- no mention of stages of cancer- Chemo has helped a great many women survive for many years- what is the % of long term survivors compared to women where the doorways were opened? I know several women who beat cancer for many years thanks to aggressive treatments with chemo and surgery

is it a 10% risk that doorways will be opened? because at a 100% risk that the cancer will kill- facing 10% risk of chemo not working well and opening doorways seems like a no brainer- a 10% risk is nothing- compared to not getting the proper treatment with chemo 20% is even very low- problem is the article didn’t mention what % it happens to women in-

Currently in Remission, so far, so good.

Doesn’t one need to take Vitamin K-2 with D3? I take 5000 iu D-3 with 100 mcg K-2 as recommended.

Thank you.

I know a woman who is going on 8 years cancer free after having chemotherapy for the most aggressive type of ovarian cancer. If this article is the death panels at work then a pox on you bastards.

This is nothing new. Any agent that effects DNA has the ability to actually cause cancer. However, if one has cancer the risks of this are far outweighed by the chance of a cure.

If I had cancer, I would sure as hell would take the appropriate chemotherapy. I am a pharmacist. The proof is in the statistics. Many many many are alive today due to chemotherapy.
