Did Qatar’s FM just admit to Doha sponsoring terror?

JEDDAH: Qatar’s foreign minister has admitted to Doha being on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism in the region.

Speaking at a press conference in Rome on Saturday, Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said: “As for financing terrorism and what has been mentioned in the list of accusations — this issue exists in all countries in the region.”

He did not deny the charge made against Qatar.

He said that funding and sponsoring terror is a common issue in other countries in the Middle East and did not only apply to Qatar. “Qatar, on the contrary, is at the bottom of the list of countries involved in such crime.”

It sounds like he is telling the truth, research would seem to show that. One of those groups with their name ending in “Al-Sham”, “Ahrar al sham” seemed aligned with Al-Nusra, who were affiliated with AQ.

If people want to call Hezbollah a terrorist group, which they appear to be, there is that too and they are fighting on the Iran/Russian/Syrian side.

I heard that Al-Nusra is Qatar's child.

The statement must be translated. There is misunderstanding, especially on Free Republic, of what the man said and what was not said.

The tendency is to lump all Arab Muslims into one pile. That is like lumping all Christians into one like pile, including those congregations that permit snake handling.

The Qatari is lumping his state sponsored funding of terror with individual sponsorship of terror. The rich pathetically fundamentalist old Saudi is not the Saudi government. A governmental prince is equated with the rich fanatic even though there is no equality. Likewise, the Qatari royal terror sponsor is not a Saudi royal non sponsor even though both are royal and both are Muslim.

I know it is hard for Rio Linde Freepers to grasp the distinction, but it exists.

There’s a group that has been covering (among other things) Qatar’s involvement in terror financing. They’re the Foundation For Defense of Democracies.

They’ve written several long reports on Qatar. They’re pretty disturbing considering that many people out there think that Qatar is one of the enlightened Muslim countries.

Here’s their website:

Qatar paid 1 billion to terrorists to get back some loser members of its royal fam. That is the issue.

You’re very confused. The Linde river is in Russia, not California. And there are few FReepers living along the banks of the Linde. ;-)
